    Those two 4" speakers really carried the lower notes well and it runs on a battery as well as AC, so cool!

    It is an amazing amp! Not only does it sound great with a bass guitar, but ANY guitar!!! I am also using the PJB cable.

    Jesus Christ mister Jones, there isn't such thing as a "digital amplifier". You are referring to Class D amplifier architecture used into this product.The sound is pretty much 100 % analog at the end into those speakers. I came to watch this knowing it has a great sound and expected top notch description for this luxury product.

      Pardon my ignorance but aren’t many modern Class D Amps using digital signal processing? As I said I am not electronic guy but could this be what he meant in a simplified way, without getting into the ins and outs?

      @@thejamaican67 You are referring to DSP, the digital signal processor, and this stage, where it's available, is working with small line level signal. It has to do with shaping the signal, before the final amplification stage, wich can be classic AB with transistors or Integrated Circuits, Class D with integrated circuits (most times) / FET transistors,and the third option is old school tubes for final stage amplification.

    Unfortunately, us EU people are left with the IEC model, which can't be battery-powered without additional and sometimes risky d-tours. Such a shame :(

      But the us version with the dc input can be battery powered still, right?

    Incredible sound! The battery option is intriguing. Do you get the full 70W RMS when using a battery? Also, as a guestimate, how much playing time would you get with typical sound / volume settings from a fully charged battery (assuming the same model battery shown in video)?

    • @jorymil
      @jorymil Před rokem

      Since all the amp's power comes from DC, power just depends on how much current your battery can supply. Note that just because a battery may say 4AH, that doesn't necessarily mean it can actually supply 4A.

      discharge 19-20v at roughly 4.5- 4.7 amps i believe.
      you also want to avoid one that will powercut if the amperage gets high (the first poweradd pilot apparently has this problem, essentially shutting off the amp if you play hard)

    I've now bought one of these amps and have twice messaged PJB for advice about the ability to go mains-free. I'm not very teckie and when I searched for laptop batteries they look quite different from the one PJ uses here. I did find power packs for use with laptops that have discharged batteries and they do look like this. I want to know the spec for whatever it is - I want to get the right thing and not wreck a lovely bass amp. Can anyone advise please?

      Keith Kennard if you don’t understand voltage amphours frequency and ohms it’s a really tough conversational have. And for the company it becomes a huge liability. Message me on my page and I’ll give you some not professional advice on what Ido. Or you can spend a couple hours on CZcams learning the basics of 110ac and 12-48v dc power.

      @@donnnick Hi Nick - Only just seen your reply. I'm a bit of a dinosaur so I might struggle with the technology. I've message PJB direct for their advice. Thanks for trying.

      @glueball9511 Před rokem

      essentially what you are looking for is a battery that can discharge at 19-20v that can push an amperage above 4.5 amps at that level.
      Many forums dedicated to this pursuit as it has become a bit more complicated with the lenovo battery becoming very rare. There are several alternatives that are suitable
      Most common being the poweradd pilot 2 battery which similarly is able to fit in the handle of the combo
      best of luck

      @@glueball9511 thanks for trying to help. That is the model that PJB recommended to me but its unavailable too (certainly in the UK anyway). I was then directed to the Krisdonia NJF-2 which works however if you don't get the 20v setting it will shut down (safety feature) for about 5 minutes, which is no help on a gig. Similarly, if you don't use it for a short while it also shuts down and you have to reboot (if that is the term). Frankly, a frustrating item - I've only played on mains ever since but I would still like the battery option.

      I've heard different things, but there are reviewers online saying that if you get a high quality power pack you can get 3-5hrs out of it, maybe more. Everyone has said realistically you'll want to buy two high quality packs though, to be safe.
