Dan's voice has evolved so much, im so proud of the whole band. They keep getting better!
Bastille has helped me get through so much they are so precious to me

the song is about people who say crazy or extreme things, and Dan's reaction is he needs to take a break from listening to it. "I can not believe my ears", "do you even know what year it is", "your podium awaits"
well it does in a way, views on gender, race, etc. change a lot over time. many of the views our grandparents grew up with, race for example, are considered outdated. time definitely has a say in what we consider right and wrong.
I think you may be missing the point. the main idea isn't that a specific year makes something wrong or right, it's a kind of "how could you think that in this day and age?" type of thing. an extreme example would be if I were to say that a woman's place is taking care of the house, today that view is considered quite sexist, but just a few decades ago, that was considered the norm. it's not that any specific year made that view wrong, as time went on, more women decided they wanted to do things with their lives so they did. as time goes on, views change. many views from 50+ years ago are considered wrong/crazy today.
