Finnish is a very poetic language - very very easy to make into beautiful songs because of how it is built and how it is easy to bend in many forms.

Hanoi Rocks is definitely the most infuental Finnish band, especially their look. They were inspired by the NY Dolls and Stones but took it to another level, it was a mish mash of pirate, gypsies, transvestite, etc. Musically they were too dependent on moody and drug addicted Andy.
Yes, without them we wouldn't have had bands like Motley Crue and Guns 'n' Roses.

Tarja Turunen was the singer in Nightwish in the song Nemo. She is Finnish and has a amazing voice❤

That Jenni Vartiainen's song reminds me of these two songs; "Loituma - missing him" and "Lasse Mårtenson - Myrskyluodon Maija", added with some contemporary Pop elements. So you probably aren't wrong with that Folk/Trad vibe. Mårtenson's song is a theme song for a 70s TV series and it's the most sold in Finland, when it comes to sheet music. He's a Finland-Swede. This song is from the all-time best selling album in FInland. Jari Sillanpää is a Sweden-Finn. He became popular when he won the world's oldest tango festival, Seinäjoen Tangomarkkinat. So Schlager type dance music from the mid 90s: "Jari Sillanpää - Satulinna". Olavi Virta is regarded to have had the all-time best Finnish voice: "Olavi Virta - Hopeinen Kuu". One of the most significant Finnish Rock albums is "Roadrunner" from the 1974: "Hurriganes - Get On". The most influential Finnish band is probably Hanoi Rocks: "HANOI ROCKS "Tragedy" Live at The Marquee 1983". The all-time most popular and best selling band in Finland is Eppu Normaali. The Rolling Stone magazine listed them as one of the biggest bands outside the US the Americans have never heard of: "melodikakofoniko Eppu Normaali - Kitara, taivas ja tähdet". If you're interested in guitarists, there's quite a few Finnish guitar heroes; E.g. Alexi Laiho, Albert Järvinen, Jukka Tolonen, Petri Walli, Erja Lyytinen, Andy McCoy, Ile Kallio, Esa Pulliainen, Heikki Silvennoinen, Jarmo Hynninen, Timo Tolkki and Jani Liimatainen. The Finnish made guitars are also quite popular. E.g. Kari Nieminen has made guitars for the likes of Rolling Stones' Ronnie Wood and members of ZZ Top and The Who. The all-time greatest Finnish composer is Jean Sibelius. He too too took a lot of influence from Folk/Trad music. He's probably one reason why Finland is big in Folk and Classical music.

Well Jenni Vartiainen song is not like Mårtenson. The piano is copy of Lapin Kesä. Poem of Eino Leino, song by Vesa-Matti Loiri.
@@eerohorila1109 You aren't giving Mårtenson much credit for his work. Jenni sings her song as a young woman, who misses her passed on sweetheart. Mårtenson's song is a theme song for a TV series based on Anni Blomqvist's novel series. In the story Maija's husband drowns. In real life Anni's husband and son drowned, which made her an author.

My first time hearing anything from Viivi -- defo liked the lyrics and the comical video.
Reacts to Joelma when he was a member of the band Calypso live in the Amazônia (Brazil) in 2004. And then he reacts to Joelma in his solo career live in the Amazônia in 2022 (Block 1 and Block 2). She is considered the greatest performer in Brazil, and one of the few who don't use playback, her face is swollen because she contracted Covid 4 times and her blood was clotting, but even so she managed to record this DVD, like almost 50 years.

Hello Dar. Suggested you to delve deeper into Finnish rap performed in English: View - Bury Me and Paleface - Colgate Soulmate.
However, after watching this video I would suggest some other artists worth mentioning. Teemu Brunila was the singer-songwriter of Finnish pop rock band The Crash. After the band disolved he became a songwriter who has made music and lyrics to e.g. Jenni Vartiainen. If I am not remembering wrong, he wrote the one you reacted on. He has gone international since then, and I would like for you to check up Studio Killers - Jenny / Ode to the Bouncer. He has been the songwriter in those songs and he also sings the songs as "Cherry".
The other one has is trying to make an international breakthrough is Alma. Check her latest: Summer Really Hurt Us.
From there I would suggest a young dancer-singer Joalin (Loukamaa) who used to be part of an international dancing group called Now United. When she returned to Finland, she was in some reality television shows and from there on she started making music on her own name: Joalin. Check Asi Asi.
Finnish music is very diverse from the traditional Finnish music to something more international. The international sounding music however is still going very deep in the underground and not under the radars of the industry or heavy listeners. However, I do think by now some of the artists and bands should get more attention. Thank you.

the song Nimo is quite old and Tarja was fired from the band in 2005 and after that it was a Swede and after her came Floor who is the current singer.

Fired is maybe a bit wrong way to say it... in a sense it is true when we look at the events but when members of band grow apart... at some point you got to rip the bandage and she would've left on her own anyway around those times. It just was not working anymore. After all, her last concert was End of an Era and in that concert it is very clear that Tarja knows it is her last gig with the band..

I definitely reccomend checking the lyrics up in english, cause even though the translations can be weird (finnish has so many forms its hard to translate into english and still keep all the wordplay, poetry and meaning intact, not to mention alot of songs have refrences that all finns know but foreigners would not) the lyrics still play such a big deal in the songs, less in some, but especially in oler songs you would want to know the lyrics. Finns have a nasty habit of making the song sound cheery but then having really depressive and/or meaningful lyrics.
Would be nice to see u reacting to Käärijä: Cha cha cha or Mic mac 😊 Finnish rap, or party metal, different songs have a bit different genres

Hah, i´m finnish, but i haven´t ever even heard from that blond girl before 😂. Nightwish is old legend, but not my type of metal that i listen. Jenni Vartiainen is propably one of the hottest female singer in Finland. I just don´t generaly listen to that sort of music. She sure can sing. He was "founded" in tv-show Pop Stars. She was first in some "girl band" before she started to solo career (i don´t even remember the name of it anymore).

that Jenni Vartiainen song is about longing someone or someone lost, very touching shit in minor... Nightwish Nemo is about life and everything life can be or not, just make it your own. IMO Nightwish isn't metal, more metal oriented light prog, but that is just me. that Viivi was first for me... would not like.

About the third, imo really excellent, song: I am as messed up as the USA. It is a breakup/love song.
Finnish music is shit for the most part, there are maybe a handful of good bands. Nightwish, Poets of the Fall etc.
