  • After Lasair stepped on my foot and my toe still feels broken...I decided to look into safety gear for my feet.
You can get steel toed boots/shoes.
You can also get Metatarsal Guards.
These two things will help protect/deflect forces coming from above. Metatarsal Guards are available in hard plastic or aluminum.
Useful for certain situations when you might want some extra protection for your feet.

Thanks for this video! I'm also looking into the thick leather metatarsal guards. I used to use taller footwear and laced but after working around young untrained and older/injured equines I love the low profile and flexibility of these, ability to slip my foot out and no laces for small hooves to get caught in. (I no longer wear an apron after a young one caught his hoof in my leg strap and trapped me.) BTW I had to nip about 2 mm of the elastic on my Nautilus to better fit my arches and changed my insoles. Otherwise those are my favorite for work and sometimes after work too.

Amy D - you're welcome! Awesome tips, thank you! I'll probably end up nipping the elastic on mine too. I was hoping maybe after break-in, they wouldn't put so much pressure on top, but I like your idea better!
