We live in a land filled with irresistible food, no doubt. I love them all! Yet, I eat whatever that is available and there is no need for special diets and preps.
This is what I have been doing for over 6 years now + a few simple tips:
    1) Zap fan - reduce rice portions. Even a quarter of a bowl less will do the trick.
    2) Fried chicken - remove some bits of the really oily fats layers and feel free to indulge in the rest.
    3) Char Kuey Teow, Roti Canai and other mamak food - feel free and "sapu" them all in. Just reduce the frequency of it. Works wonders.
    4) Absolutely ZERO tolerance to carbonated drinks and supplements.
    5) Exercise according to your body condition and diversify them so that you don't get bored. I have speed hiking, bodyweight workouts a.k.a. calisthenics (many facets included), running and swimming (primarily a swimmer) :)
    6) DISCIPLINE!
There is no need to stop eating everything so drastically. The flabs will return just as fast as they will go. Good luck!

Well, my family's been eating less rice. Very tough for Malaysians, but that's what have to do la XD like, cut down bit by bit, dont finish all the rice/mee, cause that's all simple carbs which becomes fat XP Or instead of having noodles, add more protein la. Maybe not all the time. No rice all the time very hard. Maybe, like, lunch only or one meal a day, something like that. helps a lot.

*Disclaimer: I'm a university student so this lifestyle may not fit everyone*
Personally, I wake up early when I can - say 4-5am. I get the bulk of my work done by 7am, go for breakfast with my parents, then when I come home around 8am when the sky is bright enough and the weather isn't too hot, I start jogging around my neighbourhood. I do this about 3 times a week. If you swim, good. Imo it's the best exercise for losing weight speaking from personal experience. :)
As for food, I started eating cherry tomatoes (about RM5 for a box at jusco or jayagrocer), strawberries (roughly RM20 for 500g at jusco) and bananas for breakfast. I sometimes include unsalted nuts as well for energy.
I wouldn't say I'm on a diet and I wouldn't recommend anyone to be so strict and unkind with yourself when you are unsuccessful in keeping to a diet. Just try to eat a little healthier. Include fruits in your meals and snack time and drink 2 litres of water per day - the equivalent of 8 glasses of water.
For lunch, you can also prep your meal and bring it with you. Perhaps some people will think that you're kiamsiap (stingy) for bringing your own food or that you're weird, but that's their problem. You know you're doing it for Your health so don't let anyone else's closed-minded opinion stop you from becoming healthier.
Just my two cents. I'm starting to improve my lifestyle health-wise and thought I'd share these tips with anyone who may find it useful. :)

Personally when I diet to loose weight, I eat more :P It doesn't mean stuff my face kind nor do I have to completely stop. It's just eat properly timing and portion. Want nasi lemak... can! 1 packet enough lor. Don't go 2 or 3 packets.. As for exercise, I don't jog (no time + lazy... all your excuses in the video is ME!) but I register for marathons. Pay money already, don't go feel horrible, so must go! I also do pole and aerial so that one got instructor to force me :P
