That granny square is just beautiful and different. You explained it clearly. I’m relatively new and self- taught thru videos. I’m delighted to use your directions to create circles to hexagons to squares. I’m definitely going to play with this one. Thank you💕
I'm somewhat of a beginner & had to unravel mine 4 times....stretch my work apart to see what you mean by the "3rd loop".... thank you very much for the video, HOWEVER, it's would be so helpful for you to re-film this, showing the 3rd loop in detail. But the pattern is beautiful, so again, thank you😊
You’re an excellent instructor and designer. I never would have thought I’d be capable of making such a complex square. Thank you and I look forward to learning from more of your videos
Hi Megan, I’m working on this square now using the video and the written instructions. I agree with others that a stitch count at the end of each row would be extremely helpful especially because the stitch counts on the written instructions are off. Round 2 has 24 stitches and round 3 says 36 but that’s not possible if I’m placing 2 stitches in one and skipping one. I’m only using 12 stitches with 2 stitches each, that’s 24. I even paused the video and counted what you had…24 stitches. It’s frustrating because I have to figure out how many stitches the next rounds are supposed to contain and I don’t know if I should follow the video or the written and ignore the counts. ☹️
Hi Stephanie, thank you for the feedback. I’ll keep that suggestion in mind when making future videos. Unfortunately once a video is uploaded it is not able to be edited. I’ll take a closer look at the written vs video tomorrow. As far as Round 3, there is a ch 1 in between each set of 2dc. Those ch sts are included in the stitch counts at the end.
@@MeghanMakesDo Thanks for clarifying, I’ve done other patterns with chain stitches and they weren’t part of the stitch count because they weren’t used for stitch placement in the following rounds, the space held the stitch. Also turning chains weren’t counted as a stitch until farther in the pattern, I’m not a beginner but inconsistency may make things confusing for those who are.
por favor comentar cuantos puntos quedan en cada carrera, para entender bien tu lindo trabajo. Estamos 4 personas tratando de hacer este hermoso cuadrado y ninguna de las 4 lo pudimos realizar.
I've finished it 😁 thankyou so much! I want to make it a bit larger though as Its going to be the back of jumper! Do you know if I can add extra rows and for it to turn Into abt 14inchs wide instead. If so please help me? Which stitches would work for it and the corners 🤔 xxx happy crocheting everyone xxx
Hi Megan, I am having difficulty following your work here as you do not stitch count at the end of each row. I am trying to stop the video and count stitches but on the all single crochet circle row (8th??) I had a massive amount of extra stitches. Now trying to follow your pattern from your website. You could slightly improve this video by including stitch counts at the end of each row. Having said that I appreciate your sharing this beautiful pattern with us and thank you. 😊
Hi, Im brazilian and i was trying to make this wondedful crochet but it didnt work very well! Now i know the reason!!! Kkkkk i confused twelve with twenty so i did 20 first double crochet initials kkkkkk so it was ok but not the same work as u did! Kkkkk But ill try it again and i hope be more successful on it! Thank u!!!😂❤😅
I have been writing this Beautiful Creation pattern down through the whole video and I don't have any troubles with this at all. Granny square can be tricky to learn and I had to practice on Many of them until I was comfortable to try something new like this for me. I Am So Excited to see this completed. I do have 2 questions for you. Will I need to Block these each time I wash it? And, I want to use this beautiful square to create a Poncho, is there anything I can do to make it larger.?
So glad you are enjoying it. You may need to lay it flat to dry but over time you won't need to block it. Not sure how to make it larger unless you just keep repeating the last row. You could also make a bunch of squares and then seam them together to make a poncho. Hope that helps!
How do I note the instructions for future reference??? Do you have a complete list of steps for each round? That was a great tutorial. You are extremely patient
Lovely!! I thought there's only a Granny Square pattern in crocheting 😅 *sorry i'm still an amateur, just start trying to crochet since last 2 months 😁
LOVE this pattern! ❤ I'm using a lighter thread though and I wonder if there is some rows I could repeat or if I maybe could start with more dch to make it bigger? ❤
You could definitely give it a try, but it may throw the pattern repeats off a bit. You could easily add a few more rounds of single crochet or double crochets after the last round to get the size you want.
Hoi megan i love your work it is butterful, but am a beginner i dont get it is too fast for me .the beginning what your do i cat it but i dont no the rest if you doning your coner can you please do it step by step i love it thank you paula from the nederlands
Could you do a tutorial on how to make a triangle? I love this pattern and wanted to use it to make a top. Unfortunately I am having a hard time halving the pattern and make the corner land in the middle 😢
Hi Sue! Thanks so much for checking out The Dagny Square. I reviewed the written instructions and it looks like the st count for Round 6 is wrong. It should be a total of 78 sts. I'm currently working on a remake of this square for use in a tote bag so be on the look out for a new video coming soon!
That hexagon should have been shown 2 or 3 more times... showing one just does not work if you've never done before....can go on ...had to try with another color, that didn't work either...had to give up... Bummer... really needed this one to connect with the first matching square...😠
Also you are very clear and concise in your instructions. The visor does have time Mark's for anyone who may need to back up the video for checking your instructions.
This was confusing to me. You didn't explain how many stitches should be totaled at the end of each row. So I couldn't check to see if I was right. My counts weren't adding up correctly because of that. Need better explanation during your videos. I was excited to try this pattern and it left me unhappy.
Hi Macy, The video is meant to accompany the free written pattern on my blog. I find it helps to have that pulled up while watching so you can easily follow along. The written pattern includes all stitch counts too. You can find it at www.meghanmakesdo.com/blog/the-dagny-traveling-afghan-square-10

Beautiful work!! I love your commentary and speed. I've been crocheting for over 50 years, but still appreciate the time given to each row. Love it❤
Thank you so much!
Thank you for this very good video❤
Thank you Megan for sharing this. It's a beautiful square and you're an amazing tutor.
Thank you very much for this pattern. I started crochet just a few weeks ago and this was a nice challenge. Love the pattern. 😊

Great job! So glad you were able to make one.
This is so lovely. I can't wait to make this. Never seen anything like it
Thank you!
Loved doing this square. Thank you for the clear instructions , but I do wish u would carry on all around the circle /square . Makes it easy !
So glad you like it. Do you mean show the entire round in the video? I can definitely try to make the videos a bit longer in the future.
Love this pattern

On the 5th row when it says do 7 on each side do 6 I've done it both ways and 6 is what she did I think
Very nice, great job!! It was very easy to follow along

Me encantó el trabajo, pero hay algo q estoy haciendo mal porque no me queda bien en el round 5
I just finished my square and thinking about making it into a lap blanket.
That would be so pretty!

I think the chain up not counting as a stitch is really messing with me. I definitely agree with having a stitch count at the end of each row.

Beautiful work and square. Which color of the wool ease did you use? Love it!

How to crochet this square half ?plase
I am now on round 8 and I get 83 instead of 84. Any thoughts on this one
hmmm...each repeat should have 14 stitches total. Did you skip a stitch somewhere?
Sometimes you were too fast to follow, but nice work anyways!
agreed :-\
The pause button is a fantastic tool. I use it at the beginning of each row while learning the repeat.
You can tap the gear icon in YT and change the speed of the video.
