You aren't wrong about ethics tbh, a shit ton of modern psychology is based off the work of Joesph Mengele. It's pretty fucked up, but now we know babies need human contact and affection within the early months of their lives or 100 out of 100 of them will die despite being well cared for in every other way.
Not many people willing to retest that one.

He has stated many times he thinks the benefits of this kind of research outweigh the risks of a potential pandemic (obviously before the Coof emerged) and I think it is fair to assume he honestly believes that to be the case.
So by his word, thought and deed...he fits the phrase 'Ethics are holding us back in science'

And he did. Sort of. He _did_ cure them in his volunteers who turned out to be even stronger and faster than an Astartes and damn near unkillable (this was way before Primaris were a thing) until they stopped being cured and turned into hulking immortal vampire beasts, went on a rampage that saw the Blood Angels pushed back into the Tomb of Sanguinius, almost infected the Primarch and were only held back by Gabriel Seth starting a long tradition of saving Dante.

On a side trivia: Fabius was also a minor contributor to the spread of the Imperial Creed. During the early stages of the Drop Site Massacre, Fabius saved the life of a certain Death Guard marine by the name of Nathaniel Garro. The same Garro who went on to warn the Emperor of Horus's treachery, and became the first martyr of the Lectitio Divinatus. One of those actions you take had no idea would have far reaching consequences in the long term.

It was not a face, for a face was a thing of limits and angles, and what he saw had neither. It stretched as far as his eyes could see, as if it were one with the whole of the sky and the firmament above. Things that might have been eyes, or distant moons or vast constellations of stars, looked down at him, and a gash in the atmosphere twisted like a lover’s smile. It studied him from an impossible distance, and he felt the sharp edge of its gaze cut through him, layer by layer. There was pain, in that gaze, and pleasure as well. Agony and ecstasy, inextricable and inseparable.
With great effort, he tore his gaze away. ‘There is nothing there,’ he snarled, his teeth cracking against each other. His hearts stuttered, suddenly losing their rhythm. He pounded at his chest, as internal defibrillators sent a charge of electricity shrieking through him. The chirurgeon flooded his system with tranquillisers, and he tapped shakily at his vambrace. A secondary solution of mild stimulants joined the tranquillisers, stabilising him. He ignored the urge to look up. There was nothing there. Nothing at all. ‘There is nothing there,’ he said again, tasting blood. ‘There are no gods. Only cold stars and the void.’
The pressure increased. Something whispered, deep within him. It scratched at the walls of his mind, trying to catch his attention. He ignored it. ‘No gods,’ he repeated. ‘Random confluence of celestial phenomena. Interdimensional disasters, echoing outwards through our perceptions. I think, therefore I am. They do not, so they are not.’ He met the Quaestor’s bland gaze unflinchingly. ‘Gods are for the weak. I am not weak.’

@@muzanjackson8827 if you want to provide a source for your claim about each god having a Horus shard I'm happy to examine it. It was no more insane than Horus was - in fact, possibly a fair bit saner, given how unhinged the primarch got towards the end of the heresy. It wasn't weak, Abaddon faced it alongside his Justaerin and Khayon, and beat it the same way he beat Calgar - by having better weapons. Abaddon also might be a Horus clone (in this same passage Khayon could only tell them apart by their weapons and teeth) so there's that. It showed the power level expected of a primarch. A rotted and damaged brain can't store memories and neither can DNA, which is what the clone would be made from. There is no biological way to transfer memories and personal connections. It had Horus' soul, or at the very least a substantial shard of it. Primarchs seem to follow the rule of other 40k gods where they just spread out in pieces rather than passing on when they're killed so it would fit (it happened to Magnus and Sanguinius at least).

@@im2randomghgh First of all, this is 40k, it doesn't have to make sense. I mean, astartes and primarchs can gain the memories of someone by eating their heart or brain, and since Fabius literally just cloned the brain of horus and repaired it, that would explain it. He was also lacking his primarch aura too, I think. The only perfect primarch clone was the fulgrim one.

I can't say I agree. Ethics and morals and scientific code is what gives our science consistent and believable results.
When you drop your ethics, you very easily run into the trap of not following proper procedure anymore and letting your biases control your findings. That's what happened with most landmark 1960s-1980s psychology studies. They produced some interesting results, yes, but their methodology was often sloppy despite being done by leading scientists in the field. That's because ethics is a factor you need to consider in the interaction with human beings. People and bodies under unnecessary duress become unpredictable because every human reacts differently based on their background and physiology and add an unwelcome unknown variable into the experiment. So unless you are doing a stress test, it's pointless.
Mengele did produce some results that were useful as an avenue of research for later work, but the vast majority of his work was merely sadistic torture and had nothing of scientific value.
More men like Bile wouldn't help science advance. It would just erode what little trust the public has in science (look at the large number of anti-vaxxers and we're not even doing anything to the trial participants.) Bile in particular also has a *very* sloppy work procedure and being a genius doesn't make up for contaminating all your data. The only thing to keep Bile and his experiments going is plot armour.

It will then kill Fabius, woke up Clonegrim and start going around the galaxy purging demons and burning dow the church of the the ecclesiarchy.
BTW, you should think about doing similar videos about other famous but less talked about characters, like Chiapas Cain for example (I'd love a video on him).

For anyone curious, the skin coat is made from the skins of loyalist marines, Fabius is quite fond of it too and considers it very stylish.
