I was led to Catholicism via supernatural interest. The writings of Thomas Keating “the Human Condition” wherein he discusses the techniques of contemplative or centering prayer as a healing tool, a form of meditation, brought me to the internet looking for a place to practice it where I saw stories about Saint Faustina’s apparition experience of Jesus when he instructed her to have his portrait painted. I was amazed that the world was not informed of this. My interest was captured and I went down the road to the church. Love these shows.

I am a cradle Catholic, though I was poorly catechised.
At the age of 50 I had never heard of any apparitions.
My mother in-law used to bring me magazines that she was finished with. In the one bunch was a sort of magazine format of the story of Fatima. As I read it, I kept saying to my father in-law, "this isn't true..right"?
He just kept saying "they say it is".
By the end of that story, I found myself on the internet reading everything I could on Fatima...and then found out about Lourdes, Guadalupe, the miraculous medal, the miraculous staircase, etc...
Imagine, just about 100 years later and our beautiful Blessed Mother is still leading people to her Son!
Since, I have learned the foundation of my Catholic faith, and just can't get enough!
I also went to confession, which I hadn't done since I was a child!
      Sorry I rambled on...
God bless you my friend! ⚘️

Fun episode! It sparked many thoughts for me.
I'm open to spoon-bending being real! That is, to the PK explanation being correct. At the same time, alternative hypotheses for playing with:
    1. Could Jimmy's experience have been caused by trickery on the part of organizers? Perhaps specialty spoons with some kind of trigger-sensitive supermagnets or magnetic material inside or blended with the rest of the metal, that pull different parts of the spoon toward each other when the magnetic mechanism is somehow triggered? While the sensations felt by the hand could be a mix of adrenaline rush and the unusual level of concentration on what's happening in one's hand, while objectively creating friction-heat by rubbing. And maybe the magnet does need some initial 'oomph' from the adrenaline-prepped human to get the movement started or to finish triggering the magnet mechanism. (Maybe it's like a glowstick where something inside needs to 'snap' first, however small the crack.) When the metal is later tested, I'd assume the analysis would reveal whether anything magnetic might be involved? But it wasn't mentioned here one way or another, so I'm unsure that hypothesis was explored. But I do wonder whether there's ever been a test of all involved spoons before, not just after, bending, so that it can be verified that the difference between metals is something that follows bending, rather than preceding (and possibly contributing) to it.
    2. Alternately (I never like to think something is outright fraud, so included the previous idea just as a 'what if'), perhaps this is a purely physical phenomenon and the mind is only involved insofar as being hyper sensitive (when appropriately concentrating) to the micro-signals the fingers detect when the metal for some reason 'softens'? Maybe there's some true physical effect that rubbing causes on metal, affecting small component particles in a way that lines them up just right to be bent, and the human fingers are sensitive enough to sense the exact moment at which physical force would suddenly be proportionately effective. The sense might be on the level of instinct/subconscious, but not necessarily 'psychic'. Just very finely attuned sensitivity to touch and subconscious recognition of implications, that when prepped by explicit instructions about what action to take when we feel the impulse, results in the desired impact on the subtly-altered sensed-object.
Again, of course, it could be a psychic phenomenon. I'd love for it to be. Or, well, I wouldn't. I'd hate to think that psychic phenomena could really damage metal, because that would have military implications, especially for demoralized countries whose psychic 'defences' may be reduced in the face of more self-confident foes.
I'm curious: Did Jimmy ever go home and try this technique on a spoon whose source he knows for sure? One of his own, or purchased from a regular store from regular vendors who don't have bending on their mind? Can this be replicated by Jimmy on originally-sourced spoons far from PK party organizers? Alternately, has Jimmy tried the 'no physical force' methods on his at-home one-millimeter spoons? I guess that's jumping straight from kindergarten to grad school, but a very weak grad school. One millimeter diplomas. Maybe worth a shot?

Hi I thought you'd like this comment I wrote so I'll paste it here.
I have a hypothesis on how to explain this phenomenon. If I am not mistaken, many things have a resonance frequency: if they are hit by sound waves of that frequency, instead of transducting the wave they store the energy of the wave in the form of oscillatory energy. If the boundries of the grains of the spoons can do that (big IF) and if human hands can deliver stimulation at that frequency, that would explain many things about this phenomenon: you need to touch the object for extended periods of time (you'd need to "find" that frequency through feedback, unconsciously, and you also deliver the energy in small packets over a long time); you feel it warming up for just a second (the moment the boundry of the grains oscillates over a threshold amplitude and turns the oscillatory energy into heat); it happens to the whole object at once (solids are great at conducting sound waves. Both plastic and metal items would transmit oscillation delivered from your hands to all the boundries basically at once).
This rests on the assumptions that these boundries can be subject to oscillatory resonance, that this resonance is basically the same for a large amount of this weak spots, and that human hands can percieve these waves getting absorbed (I am pretty sure that's what violinists do all the time but I may be mistaken). These are probably known things I have to look into.
      How to test this hypothesis:
-Get tone deaf people to come at spoom bending parties
-Have a spoon bending party with audible-to-loud music that has unorthodox time signatures or change the music often, each song with a different time signature than the previous one.
-Get people singing while working on the spoon
These may interfere with the ability people have at subconsciously moduling that frequency of their hands
-place a microphone into each spoon
A more direct approach, but it may be harder to get people into the mood for spoonbending if there is a wire coming out of it

I was a teenager when Uri Gellar became famous for bending spoons. It amazed everyone, including me. I've always wondered though, assuming it is possible to bend spoons telekinetically, what use is that? I've never seen anyone use this so-called psychic or paranormal skill in any kind of practical way so what's the point? I guess I'm too pragmatic.

My goodness, for fun I grabbed a spoon from my drawer after I heard your experience, I rubbed it, but didn't yell. I was holding my baby in one hand and just rubbed my fingers over rather weakest part of the spoon for a few seconds with my otherhand. . I felt it do something weird so I turned it, I was looking at it sideways, when I looked at it from the front, it was bent, tilted really. Not gonna lie, kinda weirded me out, now I have a crooked spoon, lol. I'm only disappointed I don't have a before pic.

That was fascinating and pretty thorough, as we've come to expect from Jimmy. I do wonder about different metal alloys though, especially of mercury, which is known to easily pervade other metals and change their properties. Is it possible these party spoons were treated with something like mercury or gallium?

I used to do this with sleight of hand. Had some people almost convinced I had some sort of psychic power. Magicians are very very good at their craft. The whole point is to make it appear paranormal. Magicians have even fooled scientists. Uri Geller was a good magician/mentalist, but nothing else imo.

I've taken a spoon bending class with my teens. It's real, but in retrospect, I don't know if it's science or if there was any possibility that the teacher could have done any kind of spells prior to the class? There was no sign of the occult or witchcraft during the class but that doesn't mean something wasn't done prior to class. Either way, I still have the fork I bent in the class.

Speaking for the I.A. D. (It’s always demons) faction.. I’d like to see if the presence of persons praying a rosary or the St. Michael prayer affects the success of the metal benders at a pk party. What bothers me is that some of these bendings seem to be happening when the bender is not even focusing attention on it, such as the guy who had each spoon he was not paying attention to bend. That seemed to me to have mischievous intentionally behind it -but not his own. And a couple of the anecdotes mentioned striking successes experienced by people who were meditating. A dedicated I.A.D. theorist would certainly point out that exorcists and deliverance ministers often believe that non-Christian meditation practices can open people up to …well, you-know-whats.

Spoon bending has nothing to do with Psychic abilities (unless you're bending the spoons without anything touching it, including your hand), also spoon bending is not related in any way, shape or form to PK, because "PK" is a Psychic ability called Psychokinesis, meaning psyche and movement, the movement of an object with your mind alone and not your hands. Spoon bending is called Mind Over Matter. I guess the selling point LIE is to associated Spoon Bending with Psychic abilities and or PK, to perk people's interests, like pictures of Jesus LIE about him being white, just to sell the religion to white people.
