US prosecutors have accused an Indian government employee of directing a foiled attempt to assassinate an American citizen in New York City.
The alleged target was a prominent supporter of an independent Sikh state, and it comes just a couple of months after Canada's Prime Minister alleged potential Indian government involvement in the murder of a Sikh leader there.
