Lifelong East Coast Boston skier here. For me, the clear choice is Ikon. With Epic, I was limited to Sunapee (too entry level) or Stowe (too far for a day trip). With Ikon, I got must-have Killington and Sugarbush with unlimited Stratton, and the classic Maine resorts Sunday River and Sugarloaf. Already planning trips next year to Utah, Colorado, and Tahoe. Great video btw!
Definitely agree Ikon is the way to go for Northeast, much better mountains on ikon up there. Sounds like you've got a great season ahead next year!
I lean towards Epic because I’ve been skiing at Stowe VT for 15 years. At this point, I’m ready to buy Epic AND Ikon.
Having a specific mountain you want to ski at definitely helps make the decision easier, and Stowe is great in the northeast! I've done both the past 2 years and haven't regretted it, but I've been traveling a lot to ski so the price was worth it. Definitely worth hitting some ikon mountains if you haven't yet!
I just moved to Colorado. I initially got the Summit Value pass because before we moved, we were planning to do a week-long trip to Breck next year. However, now that I'm in Colorado, I have upgraded my pass to the Epic Local pass, although in doing so, I lost my early bird perks. In previous years, we should have opted for the 4-5 day passes instead since those are a lot cheaper. Now that I'm here, we will likely flip back and forth between Ikon and Epic. I also want to try out some independent ski areas like Ski Cooper, Granby Ranch, and Monarch. My cousin works in the Aspen area (rental management), so I'm hoping we can hit the slopes with her soon. Don't worry, I won't be clogging up I-70 (very much), since I live in Colorado Springs.
As a person from SoCal, Ikon pass benefits us more. Going to get my first pass tomorrow!
Definitely, a lot more solid mountains on ikon for socal. I like Ikon more in general too
my family and I get the epic full pass every year now for the last 4 years. before that I was doing season passed at specific mountains here in colorado. for example Copper, Breck, Vail, or Keystone. ive never gotten the icon pass but most locals love to get icon but for me epic makes it really sweet for retired military. good vid breaking it down. I love the way epic does their on mountain customer service it can't be beat it feels more standard across the different mountains and I like that. id love to get back to copper mountain but as I stated its hard to break away form epic because they make things so easy.
Its hard to beat the price for retired military on Epic pass, you definitely can't beat the value!
I would get ikon pass but they don’t have a discount for military veterans (only 20+ yrs retired vets). 👎. Unlike epic. Guess who gets my money?
I like your suggestion to buy and try Epic one year and Ikon the next, or vise versa. You will be hard pressed to be disappointed with either in a season. Especially out West. Do the two year plan as it were.😊

Idk man vail, park city, breck, mt.snow, and the Tahoe resorts are pretty great
