    What's the use of a government that doesn't have a plan of evacuating its citizens to a safe place yet citizens elected them trusting them to help during disasters. People in the city slams are in the city cos they are looking for a livelihood. Greed in government departments has affected discipline and nature doesn't respect governments

    The same name of God which our government leaders/officials keep throwing back and forth, I would say, most of the time in vain and as a way to instill fear in “the people of God,” is the same one that uses some of His small people, meteorologists, as vessels to predict the weather to help us best prepare our land for agricultural reasons and/or to keep us safe from any dangers that may accompany whatever the weather is.
    I feel for Dr Gikungu! It’s just so sad how they paraded him to apologize. What the government showed us of this institution(the meteorologist department), is such a shame to the same government and to its people. Now the rest of the world thinks we’re all fools!
    Mistakes happen sometimes concerning weather predictions but, there will always be some sort of similar prediction just in a lesser or severer way, and the timing may be a little off but, whatever the predictions, it will come somehow.

    There is a need to monitor constructions all over the city, restore forest areas and river lines, and have proper drainage systems instead of planting sky crapers. When nature revolt, not even government will be spared from shame of their ignorance.

    Everyone should take weather related forecasts seriously. In the USA, the weather is part of the broadcast several times a day. There is always bad weather throughout the year in different parts of America. If it's not snowstorms, it's tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, heatwave. If you fail to prepare, prepare to fail. The Kenyan Government can learn a lot from how other countries prepare for extreme weather, coz the forecasts are known months in advance, and citizens should listen and also do their part if preparing. It should not be a surprise with a lot of lives lost.

    As cyclone Hidaya approaches NOTHING TANGIBLE is being done apart form cordoning off the coast line. UNFORTUNATELY when the cyclone hits the coast, it will not only affect the coast line but also probably 3 or more kilometers inland. When the highest office dismisses such vital information and you hear people say serikali saidia, which serikali are they talking about. Prevention is better than cure but in Kenya (politicized) cure is better than prevention.

    Where will you camp them? At this point, not even the drainage is enough to contain the flows. Even the drainage we blocked them with our plastic bottles and waste.
    What we can't fight Nature when it strike, tell me one country that have ever contain force of Nature! What the government should do is preparedness and managing the damage.

    When you are told do not do corruption on earth, no, we are only developing and do it favors.
    Mai Mahio disaster is purely man-made disaster, the tunnel were blocked by soil erosion and lose boulders, which led to weakened the bridge. You wonder why it didn't happen in daylight? The answer is obvious the NATURE wanted to punish the Mankind or teach them lessons they will never learn.

    Let's see a campaign of Kenyans for Kenya led by his Highnesses and her Highnesses in the gang......like your predecessor Julie Guchuru. Then we'll believe you care truly. Otherwise,this bashing of the government and its systems left right center makes you look bad as "spectators that play better from the pews than in the field". We can tell good journalism from people out to get, by whatever means, the government they were never for in the first place.
    The government is not perfect. They have lots of misdemeanours to correct, but you are nowhere near perfect either. Practice moderation and give Kenyans hope.

    • @user-kpkxgtj
      @user-kpkxgtj Před 17 dny +3

      It's not the independent media's role to sell (false) hope or make the government of the day look good, maybe KBC can do that. Neither is it their role to step in and provide what is missing on the ground - the government that makes no mistakes while collecting ever-increasing taxes from Kenyans should be on top of that. The presenters as individuals aren't obligated to care for Kenyans, or lead campaigns to show that they are good or caring people. Their role is to pass information and talk about what's going on, and that's exactly what Citizen and the individual presenters are doing.
      Unfortunately the reality of life under this government is as merciless as the rains, and Citizen owes their audience the truth more than it owes the government of the day "grace".
