    What about Engine Ice??
    Take your bike to the dealership and have it tuned so that the fan comes on at a lower temperature.... i.e. sooner. That way, you should run cooler throughout your riding day

      That's a no go taking it to Ducati. I considered a ecu tune reflash soon after I bought it, but my ducati dealership won't alter a bikes factory ecu setting away from how ducati specifies. It supposedly places a liability on them that they are no longer doing. I know lame but they refused due to past experiences and warnings from corporate ducati.
      As for engine ice in the coolant, in the real world there's no real coolant solution that will change the overheating behavior of the ducati in city traffic on 80+ degree days. These bikes are just built/jneed to be moving to keep operating temps down 201-207 in warmer climates.
      One option is to find a motorcycle independent tuner who has the proper software to do tuning to the ducatis but the ducatii service has warned me that they won't help me/stand by me/this bike if encounters future problems. My bike was bought new at my local dealership so they stand behind the bikes they sell service history.
      AMS Ducati Dallas is my only official ducati dealership for a few hundred miles.

    I live in Europe and I have the Desert X and I love it, the only problem is the heat.
    It's my only transportation and when it's hot outside I can barely ride it in the city.
    A few weeks ago I rode it on countryside roads in the open field and was between 90 degrees Celsius and 100...
    They need at least 2 fans and they need to start at a lower temp not when ot reaches 100...
    We had temperatures of around 38 degrees Celsius if not more.

      With mine, it can be hot outside but you just can't get caught in "bumper to bumper" traffic on the hwy or "stop and go" lights. We have this here often and this is what becomes miserable. As long as can avoid sitting and thereby keeping fresh air flowing then temps hover 195-198. If factory Ducati ecu programing would allow the fan to come on at 205 degrees then that would be nice. My local Ducati dealership will not alter the factory ecu tuning due to legal liabilities.

      @@GettingthruLife Where I live it's mostly bumper to bumper, I can usually filter but it's stil almost unbearable.
      Two nights ago I went out for a late ride and I made the mistake of wearing shorts... i just couldn't keep my feet down at the stop, I had to constantly change betwen the right and left leg the whole time at the stop light.
      Also asked the dealer if the fan can come on earlier, they said no and that only Ducati can make this software change.
      I freaking love this bike and I am considering getting a KTM 390 for the city and short rides outside the city.
      Or, come next spring (not the 1956 movie), there might be an Africa Twin in my garage instead of the DDX.

      U would figure Ducati would solve such issues. But then why should they when people buy them anyways 😂😂😂😂

      @ciocanelwar What specific problems do Ducatis have that affect reliability?

      Make a video when you do and add the results. It is my opinion now that the other year around options won't make any substantial difference. Plus got to be sure whatever you add will protect you fully when, if below freezing temps. Some of the coolants that actually promote decreasing temps are race track oriented and don't protect coolant from freezing up. Now in Texas we have a less common Canadian cold front that moved down and we are in the teen digits for 4-5 days.

    what type of windscreen is that?Thanks

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 10 měsíci

      It is ducati's windscreen for the monster bikes. I applied black onto the clear see-through portion. I made a video about it. The video is in my series of Monster videos.

    in Texas since the weather is not too Cold and freezing of coolant not an issue . Try Water Wetter and distilled water . Used by many race teams . Prevents bubbles forming in the hot wall in the coolant jackets thus allowing more surface contact , for improved heat transfer .

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 8 měsíci

      I was considering no anti-freeze options and changing to Redline race brand coolant. I'm now getting lazy and we are likely going to have a harsh winter. Last couple years in North Texas we had weeks 5 to 20 degrees and bike does stay in a detached garage.. I was even worried about my car past winters as I have a low content of antifreeze in my air to water intercoolers. A lot of distilled water in that system.
      Now it's cool outside so motor heat is nothing and the Monster does not get much higher than 190- 200 in stand still traffic. (Just reality ducati's run hotl 95+ degrees)
      The $40 nissan blue coolant did help some but nothing impressive. Maybe next summer I will try a real performance coolant and make a video. Also, I plan on heat tape wrapping the rear header pipe. That's the spot putting out the real heat that makes my left leg toasty.

    it's not a fuckin' Harley, it's a Ducati. Ducati's are meant to running hot.

    • @GettingthruLife
      @GettingthruLife  Před 23 dny

      Fine if used in a more moderate climate such as the more typical European areas but if run in a hot climate, excessive heat isn't good so your answer is ignorantly stated. 220+ 230-240 degrees is not recommended normal by any manufacturer car or motorcycle. Experts agree between 195 degrees and 210 degrees is ideal but under 220 is acceptable. My Ducati routinely can hit 225ish and it will sit with the fans running at 217-220 in traffic. If the radiator fans weren't activated the bike would burn itself up. Running a overly hot engine is also extra hard and tough on engine oil where excessive heat produced by the engine will also kill your battery.
      Note: using foul or language or language abbreviations doesn't make your comment more impressive and its not appreciated.
