    The dam is curved the wrong way haha. Dams are usually curved inwards so that they are more resistant to all the water pressure. Of course in timberborn none of that matters, and the area looks really nice. Looking forward to the next episode!

      Thanks! I had forgotten that dams in real-life curve inward

      @@ZeddTheBuilderTbh in timberborn dams should be curved outwards since that allows for more space for water

    Something I did with my gravity batteries was to tnt a hole under them down to the bottom of the map.

    • @obviousbear1289
      @obviousbear1289 Před měsícem +5

      To add to this: gravity batteries can also go into water. You can bomb a reservoir to the very bottom of the map and have your gravity batteries use that space as well.

    When it comes to power, there is a clever setup, where you can use badwater, since its not very useful for anything else, and have a channel, which is filled with water wheels, at the end of it there is a pump, which pumps everything back up, essentially doubling the amount of fluid that flows through the water wheels. And it can be stacked endlessly. I think each pump doubles power. And if im wrong, i just know it increases it by a lot, far more than the pump consumes. Ive seen it done before, but the person used the other beaver faction, so i dont know if you have access to all that is necessary...

    • @glennolson6505
      @glennolson6505 Před měsícem

      Ironteeth (the other faction) do have better water wheels, and a late-game building that can keep a badwater source flowing during a drought which helps keep the system going. Otherwise you're relying entirely on the pump itself to keep the waterflow going during the droughts, and as of update 5 water wheels affected the flow in ways that made it very difficult to get enough power to be self-sustainable that way. (I think there were ways to get around it, but they required a fair bit of landscaping.)
      Those features are gone in update 6 though, so it's a bit more viable there; but it's still in the experimental branch.

      After the Whitewater series ends I plan on starting another series on update 6! I'm really looking forward to all 3D water physics/overhangs and have some ideas for some interesting builds. Since the Whitewater colony is pretty established now, I have a few large structures (and bots) planned before I wrap it up. Hoping that lines up with the Update 6 release!

    you can speed up building process by building warehouse nearby, if you set it to accept materials + prioritise by haulers, haulers can carry 2X materials so they will fill fast and builders won't have to resources from far away

  • @Karvoc

    So bad water = power, you just have to path it correctly across as many wheels as possible on its way off the map. Never rely on the wind again!

    Looks like you could use more Haulers, since you are moving so much Dynamite and closer pile would be good and the wood piles you placed near the new dam never showed any fill in them. Maybe place the work pile area, then wait for it to be made and start filling before starting a big build in the area?

    • @ZeddTheBuilder

    Hell yeah. I love the series, i was a little upset there was a lack of videos, but now its excellent. Also i understand that i have no room to be upset here, since what you give us is completely up to you, and you have no obligation to do so, which is why its something that can be appreciated. Something ive learned from my commissioners, since i tend to pressure myself. I bet you do that too

    Are you going to get into terraforming?

    • @ZeddTheBuilder
      @ZeddTheBuilder  Před měsícem +1

      Unlocking dirt will be in the near future - and I really want to do something of a tiered waterfall look someplace on the map. I probably won't do any massive terraforming into flat terrain though - I like to keep the Forktails nature vibes, even if it means I don't fully maximize the efficiency. For my next play through I'm thinking of playing Iron Teeth and leaning into "the factory must grow" for something different!

      I have a few more big builds planned for this colony, then I think I'm going to start a new play through on update 6. I have a feeling that the saves won't be upgradable between versions, so I want to take advantage of the colonies economy to build large structures before I reset!

  • @BobertBaratheon

    Hey yo. Found your channel through ItsZeeeti.
    Timberborn was the reason I bought a PC. Even though I’ve +200 games in my Steam library, it’s the game I always come back to.
    I was wondering, what do you use to capture gameplay and record your voiceover?

    • @ZeddTheBuilder
      @ZeddTheBuilder  Před měsícem +1

      It is fun game - I'm surprised at how many hours I've spend building random things in it!
      I use OBS (Open Broadcast Software) to capture gameplay. Some other tips:
      - In OBS I capture game audio and microphone audio into separate audio channels. This lets you edit the audio levels in isolation and gives you some more options during editing.
      - I turn off the music in-game and re-add music in post so cuts don't ruin the music
