Shearing a Jakob Ewe - Showing off what I learned in the four day beginners school.
I went to school Thursday through Sunday it ran from 8 am to 5pm or later depending on how may sheep were lined up to be shorn.
Sheep were fasted 12 to 24 hours for their own safety, no sheep were harmed in the making of this video or more then a few stitches in the class.
How to shear a sheep. Start at cleaning off the belly, then moving to the Clutch then the first hip and under mind, then moving to the head and neck, top front shoulder moving down for the short blows, the long blows across the length of the body, back up to the other shoulder - Side and last hip. Then she goes out the porthole.
Cute lambs looking for their moms. What must they think when their moms had such a major hair cut. Some came out with blue spots.
The Jacob had lots of second cuts but, no cuts on the sheep.
Sheep are sheared for their own health a wellbeing, they get really hot during the summer and fell so much better after their wool is removed. They are also subject to fly strike, where a fly lays its eggs near the rear of a sheep and the maggots feed off the sheep. They could also have lice or other skin aliments.

Awesome, more shearers are needed. Especially one who are good to the sheep 🐑. It was amazing to learn. Wish I started years ago I would have made it a career. With the high need for shearers a lot of them travel around the world 🌎 for work.
If you haven’t seen a shearing competition you need to they are fabulous.

@@mattimakes ahh left the mad game when dad died in 1991 as it was him who put me in it. - but have got back in too the industry when found out wild brother- Malcolm O'Dwyer still in the game at 67 age. - the weirdo thing about him was he was hopeless until he had a motor- bike accident in 1990 and was in the hastings hospital for 3 years and came out like Frankenstein - all nuts and metal from all the broken bones and a new rubber tube instead off a penis which was cut off from the accident .- Instead off doing 60 sheep a day he started too do 300/ 400 per day and hung around the main sheep population areas in Hawkes bay province too gat the bigg numbers off sheep/goats/ other that he machine - dagged/ crutched/ shore up till now that Hit about 3 million. He kept hunting the sheep every day from 1993 too get that number .- Last time ahh saw Him was when he blew away a Magpie with a powerfull U.S.A. shotgun because it over- talked my mother on Gwavas B. farm on Highway 50. in 1994 ,- hence why ahh shot upp too hide in Auckland City. and my contact address is as above- Chow - Chow.''
