    COMPOSER NOTES (www.zrstroope.com)
The text for WINTER is by Lebanese-American poet, Kahlil Gibran. This is a wonderful story of two people who have loved intensely since youth ("spring of life"); lived and loved through the "summer," and "autumn" of their lives; "winter" now approaches...a life of love is reflected in each face...and, though tightly woven together, one of them drifts into the "deep and wide ocean of slumber."
"Come close to me, my strength, my life; let not winter's touch enter between us....Speak to me of your glory, obscure the elements beyond the door, and sing the song of remembrance....Stoke the ashes, light the fire.....Come close....... How deep and wide the ocean of slumber."
