Swami Aparajitananda
unfolds the UNIQUE FEATURES OF CHAPTER 15,
explains the reason why the Chapter is called SHĀSTRA by Bhagavān Himself,
and raises curtain from THE MOST AUSPICIOUS BEGINNING of the Chapter.
Swamiji discusses in detail and simplifies -
• primary and secondary meanings of samsāra and their imports; definition of samsāra and nature of constantly changing experience.
• comparisons of samsāra with various things.
• how sufferings are blessings in disguise and how sufferings can make us understand that cause of sufferings is me, myself.
• why the name of the Chapter is Purushottama Yoga.
Verses 1 and 2:
• a + shva + ttha is simplified
• metaphors of root, branch, leaves, buds / shoots of peepul tree and abnormally unique feature of samsāra vriksha.
• Figurative expression of samsāra inside.
• Emphasis on the term "avyayam" in contrast with the term "ashvattha" and how it indicates never-ending misery.
• Message: only way to end samsāra is Self-Knowledge.
• Link between root and tree (God and world).
• By what reasons Lord is Highest and how branches (world, jīvātmā) are lower than the root (Paramātmā) by same above reasons.
• Simile of leaves and karma-kānda mantras.
• Purpose, goal, contents, prayer, action-philosophy and message of karma-kānda; also, its usefulness to rajasic and tamasic people indicated by example of fruit-tree relation.
• How karma-kānda nourishes samsāra tree; how jñāna-kānda chops it down (the theme discussion of Chapter 15).
Swamiji summarises that one who has thoroughly understood this tree, has understood everything. Bhaja Govindam is the essence. Choice is between imperishable God and perishable world.
Verse 2 depicts how this samsāra tree grows for one who ignores God.

THE MYSTERIOUS TREE
The existence of jiva jagat Brahman is compared to ,Ashvattha tree .
Strangely, it's leaves n branches are below n roots above are free.
The root of this tree is Pure Conciousness or Paramatma.
Leaves nourish it through Ved mantra(karm kanda) n Shastra.
Choose God ,leave the world n experience bliss.
Choose world,leave God, peace n happiness you dismiss.
Seek refuge in , 'Purushottama' the only substratum,
