Can you know when someone opened your Email? [Experiment]

- If there's one major downside of email, it is that you do not know if your recipient has seen or opened your email.
Once you send an email to someone, you have no idea if they actually opened it and read it, until they actually reply to you.
But that is just how Email works, it works different than other messaging services.
So in this video, we'll see if we can actually know when someone opens your email on their end.
We'll make use of the HTML rendering feature of Gmail to embed an image in the mail and monitor the requests for that image to be able to tell when your email is opened, it's an awesome hack!
There are some extensions available on the web store that does this automatically, but you can build your own based on this idea!
For this demonstration, I just used the python http server along with ngrok to make it work. But as I said you can build anything out of this idea.

Could your add a querystring param on the URL of the picture (with the receiver email) to know Who opens the email un case you have more than one "victim"?
If you are a programmer so you can send multiple email with the same image but with different name
Means you can save 1pixel image name as the name of the victim
Then send that image to the victim you want to send, after that you can get to know he has seen it or not
It's just my idea, hope it will work

@@soomrocars906 i think that would be very tedious. let's say there are 100 receivers, so you'll need to have 100 copies of the image.
@@ajay2552 so how much space will have a 1x1 pixel image I guess a 1000 image can only gather 1 mb maximum
So it will great to automate all the work by programming

Hard coding things is generally not considered a good practice.

(For anyone interested. If you use an email client like Thunderbird then you can deactivate this kind of stuff. In my opinion you should do so, because you can do much more harm with html and external content than shown in this video.)
actully no one takes care that much you are taking. so ratio of sucess is 99.99%

@@ajay2552 There is so much that could be done. For example the attacker could send a beakon that tells them that you have read/opened their mail. (Simmilar principle as in Rajs video) They know now that your address is in use. Now they start sending even more spam or they start phishing attacks. A relatively new attack is to hide "external sender" warnings with html/css.
An older form of attack would be to have html code load a java exploit from a server to your machine. It is also possible to hide code in pictures etc.
The possibilities are huge, if you are interested do some research. It is easy to find. You should have the right key words now. I would post links, but yt doesn't like that.

Then you have shut down the listing server you created unless you are using off-site server at which you'd have to figure out a Termux client so can monitor on the go. Or some sort of event notification
