  • "Being an addict, you don't really want the change, but you get fed up with the things happening around you." It wasn't until the third time Virginia lost everything-including custody of her kids-that finally brought her to a place where she could admit that she needed help. Homeless, living in the back of a truck, Virginia opened up to God and said, "God just please get me out of this situation, this is selfish addiction that is causing me to lose my family and lose everything
that I have." And He did.
It took an intervention by her sister to set things in motion with the ultimatum, "It's either Recovery or you lose your family." Virginia enrolled in the Heartland Women's Recovery Program and over the course of the next twelve months, God began the healing process.
Now as she continues her journey of walking through recovery, Virginia encourages those in a similar situation, "Just ask for help. There are people that are out there that care, including Heartland."
