I have never really given a lot of thought to pacing when it came to writing... I always thought of it in a structured way when it comes to the plot and this video has been helpful to understand the way pacing is placed in books and how to write it into your book... My rough draft had major pacing issues and my CP is helping me with some more of the pacing. I add scenes sometimes because they sound good in my head, but don't do anything and my CP is good at pointing out which of those scenes I can cut and which if I combine or change-up could be really great for the novel.
I started writing the second book in the series for Nanowrimo and the pacing is completely off in that one. I stopped writing it and I'm re-outlining now since I won't get beta reader/CP feedback for a couple of days.
This was a very good video, and I liked the examples you gave.

I would love some advice for during editing, because I tend to overwrite in my drafts. I can see the scenes that don't add to the story and cut them out without too much issue. I can also see some scenes are useful, but only do one thing at a time for the story. How do I take those single-duty scenes and combine them so they pull double-duty and tighten my writing?
I've read books where literally I'm skimming the ENTIRE chapter but the last sentence is "Suddenly, a crash rang out" or something like that... Boom I keep reading haha

I find that my first draft has faster spacing all throughout it, hopefully, my second draft will slow down when I show don't tell and place in scenery.
