That woman has wormed her way into my heart. If not for her absolute magic, we wouldn't have Band-Maid. People have been criticizing her because of Cluppo and solo things lately. In my eyes, she can do no wrong.

Probably the same people that hated on Start Over and Endless Story (2 brilliant songs of course). Unfortunately some people think their favourite bands should be at their bidding and churn out the same stuff over and over again, luckily Band Maid are like other great bands, always striving to progress without compromising their core sound. I'm fine with people saying they don't like something but criticising the band or individual for doing something not to their taste is idiotic.

@@edwardallen4051 I just re-listened to Start Over and Endless story. 🙂 I wonder if Kanami did the piano parts in 'Start Over', or they hired someone? I wonder that whenever there's a backing track. Like the music box sound at the beginning of Acoustic 'Puzzle".

@@80mtn I'm as positive as I can be that it was Kanami, piano is her primary instrument having played it from 4 years old, she composes on the piano and acoustic initially before working the songs up for electric. From all I've gathered from interviews, blogs etc Kanami does all the backing tracks, walk on music, music box compositions, synths, piano etc etc. The only times that I am aware of that she has sought help are advice for the orchestral intro on Sense and she collaborated with their producer to program the traditional instruments for Band Maiko. There are a few videos on YT of Kanami playing piano, her original composition of Yolo and playing Daydreaming with her sister for example.

Miku Kobato!! what an amazing woman. She had a vision of creating a rock band wearing maid outfits and some how discovered band mates with perfect chemistry and incredible talent. Original plan was for Miku to be lead singer, but she was smart enough to realize that her voice was not great for rock after just a couple of rehearsals, so she found Saiki.. Miku had never played a guitar before but with sensei Kanami's help she has become a very good rhythm guitar player. Of the 8 official Band-Maid albums and mini albums Miku has a lead vocals song on 7 of them. only "Conqueror" didn't have a Miku lead. they made up for that by giving her a 6 song EP for cluppo ;).
I hope everyone digs deeper into your channel and discovers all the small snippets of covers you have been doing. i'm really enjoying them. make sure to check out the awesome acoustic version of Sayanakadori released for a limited time. cheers

@@2genreactions Just to correct one small point. There is no connection between Cluppo, Crow and Band-Maid. None. I am not saying small pigeon didn't say hey Saiki what word rhymes with orange? But the projects are on completely different footings and tracks. My theory is that when a talented person is on her way to achieving her dream of an impossibly hard rocking maid band her thoughts might turn to areas of interest not necessarily rock. Hell, Paul McCartney wrote an Opera. Not very good but l imagine he did it because it was the polar opposite of his normal music and he wanted to test himself. I see it as similar for Miku. As that woman's talent and confidence continue to increase l can see her involving herself in music other than rock and perhaps even managing or producing. Band-Maid is rock til the wheels fall off. But don't be surprised if everywhere Miku finds herself it isn't always hard rock. Just an opinion. Love these ladies to death.

Miku's Solo Lead Vocal Band Maid Songs -
Summer Drive - Love, Passion, Matador
Big Dad - MAID IN JAPAN
Beauty and the Beast - New Beginning
    TIME - Just Bring it
Rock in me - World Domination
    Sayonakidori - Unseen World
She also sang Co-Lead for most of their first 3 albums. And while she may not be primary lead, she does a LOT of harmonizing and singing counter melodies in addition to regular backing vocals. So I always refer to her as the Secondary Lead Vocalist. And Kanami does do backing vocals in addition to triggering backing vocal tracks. The backing vocal tracks are all 5 Ladies and members of their staff/crew. So Yes, Akane and MISA do sing backing vocals for the backing tracks the Ladies use in Concert. They just find it hard to do so while performing, which is why they have the track. At one of their Dallas shows they had an issue with the Backing Tracks, so they put a Mic on MISA's stand and she sang backing vocals along with Akane, who has a mic usually over and behind her left shoulder, so if she needs it she can pull it forward.

Most live concerts they do (they call them servings) will have a part in the middle to save Saiki's voice. So they will play one of Miku's songs and/or an instrumental, plus there is a break when Miku does her 'magic time'. They often play for 2 hours + and they are very careful of Saiki's voice.

Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) “Ice Queen" - Lead vocals
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, Vocals, Lyricist
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead Guitar, Keyboards, Main Composer
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass

I've seen a lot of Band Maid reaction videos and from what I understand is that Saiki has had surgery in the past in relation to her vocal cords. From what I've heard is that most songs feature solo's (drums, guitar etc...) to give Saiki a small break in a song, and then as mentioned, instrumentals, and now Miku taking on more vocals. Makes sense. But, if Saiki is not singing on this track because of medical reasons I wish her a speedy recovery. Last thing. I've always understood from the stories of Band Maid, is that Miku got the band together and was going to be the lead singer. I think it was Akane(?) who suggested Saiki be auditioned. The rest is history. This group has made me smile so many times that I owe them one. So KEEP GOING LADIES, WE ALL LOVE YOU !!

No medical reason, Miku has a number of songs where only she sings, this is to give Saiki a break (their shows are usually 2+ hours and is hard on any singer). It was Miku's decision to recruit Saiki as the primary singer has she realized that her voice was not that well suited to the rock music they were performing. Saiki's throat surgery was back in the summer of 2017.

    • @neilonaniet
      @neilonaniet Před 2 lety +1

Miku asked Kanami to write this song for her, as at the time she didn't have "her own song" on the new album. Therefore, Saiki's only contribution is the spoken part before the guitar solo.

Mate! Greetings under a blue sky at long last!
Can you imagine that Miku could not play a single note on a guitar 6 years previous to that recordings?
As explained by other commentators, they have to manage Saiki's voice during those long over 2-hour concerts of theirs, therefore Miku plays an important role not only in backing her with harmonies but also by filling gaps caused by Saiki resting her voice. She basically does into 2 ways: 1 Conversing and goofing with the audience, 2 adding her own performances whose scope has been rapidly expanding recently. She is turning into a kind of Japanese Cindi Lauper. It makes for a whole package live concert, what with the whole group performing, and adding acoustic songs and Miku bringing another side of theirs.
One day you may find yourself reacting on a whole concert and they conduct them so expertly!
    Best regards,
    Robert-Gilles

Now you can see why she is considered the second vocalist of the band. Not merely a backup singer. Plus she writes the lyrics for nearly all their songs. As others have said, their instrumentals and Miku's 'Magic Time', are designed to give Saiki's voice a rest during their 2 hour shows.
Now I think you need to do yourself a favour and react to the acoustic version, post haste. With just Akane on drums & Misa on bass. And Akane doing the backing vocals. It is a gem of a version. It has only just been released, but for a limited time. It's from their Christmas acoustic special. Rum will be essential for this one. Cheers.

This song is used as a break for Saiki. Allows her to rest her vocals (she's had serious trouble with her vocals in the past). Hence, really no Saiki. Personally not complaining though 😉

@@2genreactions Saiki voices the spoken section - so she is technically a part of the song.
They typically do a “Miku song” right after Miku does her “Magic Spell Time” and maybe an instrumental, thus giving Saiki’s voice about a 10-15 minute break in the middle of a long demanding performance. Band-Maid songs tend to be quite wordy and a lot of rapid fire delivery, so Saiki is working hard vocally during a live show. She had vocal chord surgery to remove nodes in 2018, so they are quite intelligent to do these things to protect Saiki’s vocal health during a tour. And it demonstrates another shade of Band-Maid’s capability and gives the listener something unique - plus this song absolutely slams and is one of their instrumentally heavy songs - with Miku’s higher octave vocals - and that high note into that plaintive wail into that outro solo - pure magic!! 🔥🤘🏼
