Ice cream cart ice cream! When I was a kid in the 80’s my mom actually called it the “rip off cart”. We couldn’t afford it anyway. So she would buy us a whole container of ice cream and show us the value of the item. Smart mama!
Oh my gosh yes! Very smart :)
Also, throw pillows. I don’t have multiple decorative ones. I use pillow covers for the different holidays and put them over my everyday throw pillow. Saves space and money. I store the pillow cover in the matching holiday bin when the holiday season ends.
Love it. I am in search of some good pillow covers myself - I want to change up my couch without buying full new pillows :)
Dollar Tree has some nice greeting cards for 2 for a dollar.
Thanks!
Yes!!
New cars. I always look for a well-maintained car with 50-60,000 miles and find they are a much better deal. Don't buy from dealers. It's fairly easy to find a good quality used car and buy direct from the owner. I'll pay my mechanic $100 or so to give it a thorough check and review, and I've had great luck. Put out the word and find a friend of a friend or other reputable source for the car. Ask to see the maintenance records and enjoy your bargain!
Yes! SO good!
Been driving the same car since 2011. It is in still good working condition so I am still driving it
Love that. I feel the same - if it still works, I'll keep on using it! @@lilianasaba9846
I just started using conditioner in place of shaving cream a few months ago! I do usually go thru conditioner slower than shampoo and I had run out of shaving cream. I have sensitive skin and noticed my skin was less irritated with the conditioner and better moisturized than when I use shaving cream. I was so happy with the results I never bought new shaving cream!
Love that!
Extended warranties. Have never purchased, never will.
Same!
Thanks for the video! Just started my minimalism journey a year ago :) On the topic of farmed salmon, there are certainly bad salmon farms but there are also responsible fish farms. Check out Kvaroy Arctic, for example-their fish have no antibiotics, hormones, or artificial colorants. I love their salmon hot dogs, along with their fillet. If you've heard of the cute tinned fish brand Fishwife, their salmon is the one that Fishwife sources and uses in their tins. Some other good fish farms (not salmon) are Kingfish (Dutch Yellowtail), Blue Ocean Mariculture, and Riverence. But it's always important to ask questions about where our food comes from, so glad you brought this up :)
Thanks for the recs, Cora - I'll have to check those out!!
We live in Las Vegas. The tap water is extremely hard and tastes terrible. All the waste water from interior plumbing (housing and hotels) gets filtered and recycled. For cooking I use filtered water from the refrigerator dispenser and run it through a Britta filter. It still doesn’t taste that good. So for drinking, yeah I buy bottled water.
Wow, I didn't know that about Las Vegas water!
Have you tried E-cards? It's nicer than a call or text but digital so no paper waste and instant because you don't use the mail. They have a front cover then it opens to the inside there's the regular card quote then yiu write your own message. They are nice especially for get well cards
Great reminder - I have used them in the past but I need to get back into doing those again!
Married to a mechanic… unless you have a race engine don’t bother with the premium gas. If you do have a vintage muscle car/toy…. Spend the cash
The only bottled water I buy is distilled water for my iron and steam mop 😂
Yes!!
these are hot takes lol I’m here for it
Ha, thank you!!
For batteries 11:25 - Project Farm channel did a very comprehensive analysis on battery longevity per penny (Amazon Basics one did pretty well). Also, for knives, Brian Lagerstrom (a pro chef) did a great video explaining why he prefers using a $35 Dexter knife compared to a $800 Japanese or German knife, so while it's true that you should avoid a dirt cheap knife from a dollar store, paying a lot more probably isn't a great idea either.
Thank you for sharing!
I was totally against the fortnight online purchases too (skins or something? lol). But as my boys got older and have everything under the sun, I changed my mind. I gave the gift cards to them as holiday/birthday gifts so they can purchase these things. Sure does cut down on the clutter of nonsense gifts they won’t use 😉
Such a good point about cutting down on the clutter!!
100% agree on what to spend money on
Thank you! :)
Dresses for a special occasion. I try to buy so that I can wear them over again. I pick fabric patterns that can be used on other occasions. I also buy them on sale. I’m not spending a lot of money on a dress or outfit that I might wear a few times a year.
Yes! I used to buy a new dress for every special occasion and just don't do that anymore!
Me too.
I love your videos! What water filtration system do you have in your home? I’m looking for recommendations. Thank you!
Thank you so much! We actually use a water filter on our fridge and use the water from there for cooking and drinking. Our house is so old that we have a lead pipe as our main water pipe! The filter we use is Everydrop by Whirlpool and I know it works well because I had our water lab tested :)
I won't be buying microfiber cloths because they shed microplastics that have been found in the water supply after treatment. I can't speak to the effectiveness of household water filtration systems but the toxins are still harmful to aquatic life and any farming applications.
I won't buy more laundry sheets until a plant-based solution is available. They are marketed as an environmentally friendly option but I've learned that they contain plastic that can get in the water supply as well. Laundry pods are also a no-go for the same reason.
The same goes for clothing made of synthetic fabrics like polyester - fleece sheds especially bad.
Thank you so much for sharing, Jenny!!
I havebt used dryer sheets in years. I put some vinegar in my wash load and have dryer balls instead.
there are recipes for electrolyte replacement (instead of energy drinks). My friend has a few dozen empty water bottles she fills up at my house in the mountains.
Thank you!
Toothbrushes. Our family has electric ones for daily use at home. Dentist says it better for your teeth. I have a couple disposable ones that I buy for occasional travel.
You are so right about the electric toothbrushes too! I have a Sonicare one and I love it!
Purses and tote bags. I bought an investment purse that is any season friendly. I bought a 8$ big tote from old navy. I found out i rarely use a tote.
Yes! I had so many tote bags I didn't use.
Ive always just used soap to shave.
I buy the flosser’s w/ handles for my child.
I do get Red Bull.
Agree with farm raised salmon… gross! Also no sugar free, fat free.
I will buy some off ingredients and then just look for ways to use it up. Speaking of, need to use up some capers…. Hmmm
Thank you for sharing! 😊
WMy husband and I switched outfrom drip ciffee makers and went to a glass pouroved ciffee maker Itgets clean after every use No interior parts that you can't see The coffee is so clean and fresh tastinh
Sounds awesome! I haven’t had pour over coffee before!
@tarynmaria_ It is delicious and there are no p I ds or paper filters to purchase or dispose of I even think the ciffee maker is attractive with the cork around the section where you hold onto it to pour
I get offended by shipping fees too. I will literally not buy something if shipping is high. 🤣
Too funny, love it!
👏👏👏👍💞
Thank you!! ❤
My water tastes disgusting so bottle for me cheaper than filters
???What water filter do you use???
We use the Everydrop filters from Whirlpool :) amzn.to/48CqzCc
What about using mineral water from natural sources in woods or really bottled mineral "alive" water in the shop. Or do you thing "dead" water from the tap with lot of chlorine and other chemicals will be alive after you filter it??? If you think abou health, dead water is dead.
I do not buy all that home decor for holidays. I re use the same ones from many years ago. Most of that stuff is just JUNK.
I reuse as well - I've also found some great barely used stuff at the thrift store!
Most of that bottled water is no better than what comes from the sink. It is a scam.
I think so too!
You lost me at shipping fees.
