Stack Ryan seems to have missed the bus to fame. He was a great concertina player by all accounts and someone should research him. Hows about you Geraldine Cotter, you could start with your aunt Maura. She would have danced to his music.
Barry Taylor did some work on Stack Ryan for his 2013 book "Music in a Breeze of Wind - Traditional Dance Music in West Clare 1870-1970" and, when he was researching it, I was pleased to be able to put him onto two of Stack's surviving pupils ( in their eighties) who would have been amongst the last to have been taught by him.
Pure joy. I wish I'd known Mrs Crotty, who must have been a marvellous person.
