Why do you need a capacitor? In my class i learned that an AC regulator can use only:
-Source
-Triac (or two tiristors in antiparallel), and an R or RL.

I have a blown TRIAC that I need to replace. 1st line says BTA208X, 2nd line 600E, 3rd line PJA1814 C5, 4th line 9228.
I can find TRIACs with designation of BTA208X-600E but the other line values are different. Can you please explain the nomenclature of the other lines. Thank you.

BTA208X is a 1000 volts , 8 amps TRIAC . You can use any TRIAC equivalent to that as a replacement part.
