  • I believe trauma molds how people perceive themselves and the world around them. This perception impacts how they show up in the world. Despite this trauma, we can choose to be happy and embrace ourselves and the world around us. My mission in life is to help others make sense of Living through developmental and inspirational content, products, and services. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

    One's perspective is indeed very important, but not everyone grew up with such choices or may suffer far more than just a 'smile' will fix.

    “Look for moments that make you happy, not things!” That’s a profound statement!!
    You know how many of those moments we have in a day that we take for granted? Thank you for reminding us to cherish those moments!! ❤

    Its lonely being at the top. Most of you will meet or know/heard of these ppl; Whose worse off? the wealthy person with everything in life who is sad, depressed either wants to "take themselves out", doing drúgs, gals etc.. or a low income earner who just trying to get by doing the best thing he can but generally has a positive outlook in life. Why would a wealthy person who has "everything" wanna destroy themselves, while a person who is struggling just to make the day doesn't? Things, object's, ppl, adventure, experiences don't truly make you happy. You can go travel the world and be so happy and when you get home..guess what it's back to being sad, you are a prisoner of your mind and your possessions. My advice, be kind, honest, grateful, giving, calm, try and take things slow, look for the small things in life, the sunset, the birds, the good ppl, if you have a bed food and a roof, that's good.

    Look for moments! There are moments of happiness in every day. Hold onto it an let the rest go.

    I found this lecture rather vague and unspecific. She didn’t provide a specific definition for what activities tend to lead to happiness. The concept of happiness and how it can be acquired was not tangibly understood in the lecture.

      Because it is different for everyone. I had this same question months ago. I even went to the extent of asking a Monk what does he do specifically to find happiness. Specifically, meditation is the answer. Breaking self limiting beliefs and caring for your spirit not just your material body.
      In the most simple terms, I think the answer is in the acquisition of wisdom and pursuit of knowledge. You really have to step back from the material world and focus on who you want to be and why. And so the more you know about yourself and the more you love yourself the more you can receive and share that same love.

      @@Zoesmama01 I concur, however, I do find it important to mention that sustained and effective activities such as exercise, are linked with lower rates of depression and anxiety. While everyone does in fact have a unique set of traits that aren’t identical to the overall population, certain activities are linked with better wellness outcomes across all people.

    • @Zoesmama01
      @Zoesmama01 Před rokem

      @@ironeagle4274 that is true. From my experience, being consistent and efficient in the gym takes time and work which a lot of people don’t want to put it. They may even want to do it but lack sustainable motivation. So that’s when and why it’s necessary to reflect on yourself and what lead you to the position you’re in today. E.g I grew up insecure and always had issues with body image. I began going to the gym because of my anxieties and seeming need to fit into a beauty standard or look a certain way for others. Now I go to the gym because it teaches me discipline and makes me feel strong. So you’re right in saying some activities have generally better health outcomes than others. However, It is the intention behind the activity which matters. Intentions rooted from ego and the seeking of material pleasure will result in fleeting gratification and not ongoing contentment with one’s life.
