The kris or keris in the Indonesian and Malay languages, is an asymmetrical dagger with distinctive blade-patterning achieved through alternating laminations of iron and nickelous iron. Of Javanese origin, the kris is famous for its distinctive wavy blade, although many have straight blades as well, and is one of the weapons commonly used in the pencak silat martial art native to Indonesia, Malaysia, & Brunei.

In the ancient times, Keris believed to be embedded with supernatural power and forged by "Empu or Mpu" with multiple metal layer similar like the making of Katana and/or Damascus (CMIIW, im not good with metallurgy), it is also a power symbol and ancient ceremonial/religious equipment. The uses as weapon mostly recorded in history for Duel fights. These days, dull Keris being used as men accessory for Java and Bali traditional wardrobe.

The sounds are so satisfying. I'm home alone, switched off the fan, so silent and watching this video..
Keris making in Indonesia, especially in Java, is very complicated, starting from determining the day, and weton also practice tirakat. Physically, the material of the keris also consists of several materials and don't forget the meteorite. thank you, greetings from Javanese people....
You claim
Anyone else watching this while sleep deprived because they have insomnia?
Yo, I'm here
Lol. Yes!
मुझ जैसे तलबार के शौकीन के लिए बहुत ही शानदार 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why is watching these videos so satisfying?
I’m from Indonesia and I so proud of you for forging the beautiful Kris
Making a "keris" actually requires one of the sacred processes that must be done, fasting.
Thank you so much sir.
From east Java, Mojopahit. 🙏😊
I have my boards from 1 feb. And I'm watching this..... Boys🤞
The kris is more than a knife, the kris is a beautiful masterpiece of a charismatic iron art.
This kind of videos always amaze me. I find it incredible how skilled people practice this art and make any sort of weapons out of melted metals ^^
I want to make this when I grow up :0
I agree it would be amazing
Jesus, flamberge blades are so hard to get right, and making one on a smaller scale is even more difficult. Kudos!
Figuratively and literally a breathtaking knife!
Your ability to manifest your creativity into such beautiful pieces and apparent deep understanding of related fields (ie. physics, chemistry, etc.) is inspiring. 👏
Me: “omg I wanna be a blacksmith just like this and make anything I want!”
Also me: “oh but there’s so much work and I have to have so much knowledge and materials!” 😔
I feel the same way, because I want to make awesome weapons and other things but I don't have the money or space or the time to really start learning how to make things like this.
this is definitely one of your most beautiful blades to this day, Keep up the good work!

I love to see such ancient weapon designs made in such a traditional way, with a dremmel and angle grinder. Seriously though, these are beautiful weapons, and the first time I ever saw one I thought the owner was pulling my leg when he called it Chris.
Почему вы думаете что фламберг это крис? Да и вообще он его не ковал а выточил, так не интересно, я буду ковать
@@user-uf9ms7rk3k A flamberge is a two handed sword, this is a kriss dagger, same wavy blade though. In the English language Chris is verbally pronounced the exact same way as Kriss, Chris is a male name.
Watching these vids makes me sleep so faster❤
Just finished watching a few of your videos. Can’t believe you do this all by hand. No auto hammer? You must be an absolute beast. I’d be dead in the first few minutes.
Mad respect for this guy, all those little details, wow.
Great video 👍
Keris, the original heirloom from Indonesia 🇮🇩
Actually it an heirloom belonging to the whole Majapahit Empire/Malay archipelago.
That includes present-day Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, southern Thailand, East Timor, southwestern Philippines. Back then this whole country were one.

Keep up with the great work.
amazing. no edge, very curvy. ++
The end with the grapefruit was so funny
Much respect for the extensive use of hand tools.
Usted es un verdadero maestro del metal y la forja. Mis respetos y felicitaciones.!!! 👍👍👍👏👏👏
And continue the great work
have you ever broken a blade right before you completed it?
The time and efforts you dedicated to create this wonderful work of art is just off the chart!
So is the amount of wasted material.
Hey Smith! out of all the forging accounts on yt I think yours has definitely been the most jaw-dropping to watch. Would you ever consider making something outside of your usual content such as a shield or a piece of armor? I think that'd be really interesting.
Iguro approved this video

u should be on a hulu show called forged in fire
Looks awesome! Very impressive. I'm kind of wondering if a gate latch would be mild steel or something you could heat treat. Do you have any insight into what kind of steel the latch was? Either way, it's a beautiful piece.
Keris is a traditional weapon that can be found in Central Java, Indonesia.
Kris is such a brutal weapon
Best thing to watch on 3:35am ngl
May i recommend uzui’s dual blades for a project, they look quite nice and i was wondering how theyd look actually forged

Man so much talent in your hands ! I’d like to do this in my free time, but it requires soooo much expensive tools and knowledge 😅
Fery fery awesome 👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
no way this man has an entire arsenal of weapons like these
Not all wavy dagger is kris…original kris use a combination of metal/damascus and can hold poison/venom and that what make it so deadly…and that wavy design created for specific purpose….long story short….kris isn’t just a wavy pattern dagger….
P/S : never found a kris with chrome finish 😂
Absolutely right. Actually, we in Indonesia called it "keris" not kris and my family own 1 keris that has been in my family since more than hundred years ago
Hi, I'm viewing from Malaysia, actually that was only a pattern like a cris or KERIS in malay language, a legendary weapon that been use for thousands years until now, the material of cris is actually a damascus type a combination of 7 different steel type, the curvy side of the cris are actually an odd of numbers like 1, 3, 5, 7 or 9 and it would never have a shining finished..
Loll kris from indonesia,
@@Omtonyy keris ni dari zaman nabi Ibrahim lagi dah ada..

O keel ghusane wala scene jabardast tha 😉😂😂
Super beautiful and amazing end product and process. It is very detailed! The only thing bothering me was the heat treat, the color on the blade. There were several cold spots and it is probably just due to the charcoal heating but it did not look like the blade was evenly heated before quenching. It may have just been how it looked in the video. Either way it is a beautiful knife!!
Nice work! Did you think of an metal carving chisel instead of using a rotary tool?
BRAVOOOOO ,Perfect awesome worck, bravooo and respect fromthe old bg. This knife is za wika and pagan ceremoni!!!

I like the way you made the jig to help set the waves in the blade.
This is a masterpiece
Honestly man, I can’t believe a person is capable of this.
