  • Arthritis Ireland hosted a webinar entitled 'Arthritis is just an older person's disease' as part of our 3 part lunchtime webinar series we held during National Arthritis Week 2024. We were joined by Dr John Stack, Consultant Rheumatologist and General Physician at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital, Dublin.
This webinar dispelled the myth that arthritis is an older person’s disease and explored the fact that as people live longer the prevalence of arthritis will continue to rise. John also discussed minimising the risk of developing arthritis and the daily impact of this condition, including disruption to education and the ability to work, care for a family, move without pain and maintain independence.

Are you seeing Covid related arthritis?
My hand swelling, pain, and limited mobility came on over 1 month. No inflammatory markers are positive and nothing has been identified.
    Thanks

I was a stable psoriatic arthritis patient on anti Tnf therapy for over 10 years until 2021 and even though I didn’t contract covid until 2022 my arthritis became active in the summer of 2021 and has me left with continuously inflamed foot tendons. Only thing I did differently was take all the bloomin Covid vaccines and looking back now I blame the immune response the generated. Nothing is working now and I can’t even wear shoes never mind walk!
