DPR Ian not only directs and edits his own music videos but also takes charge of creating visuals for most DPR members. Videos marked with "DPR +IAN Visual" indicate Ian's directorial touch, and when the signature is flipped, it means he also performs in front of the camera.
His artistic journey is deeply influenced by his daily struggle with Bipolar Disorder & DID.
The character MITO, distinguished by black clothing & a white eye, symbolizes his lows condition and (vaguely) serves as a representation of his alter personality.
Conversely, Mr. Insanity, adorned in a vibrant, clown-like ensemble with wolf claws, embodies his manic highs, characterized by extreme energy and chaos.
Limbo, his latest MV, represents the transitional state between manic lows and highs, described in interviews as a hybrid character with the worst traits from both spectrums.

He is so talented and creative. I really recommend So Beautiful, Peanut Butter and Tears, and ESPECALLY MIITO movie pt 1. Its clips of 4 of his songs from his last album. He not only writes all his music but also directs AND edits his videos like the effects and all. Yesss there is a huge storyline and multiple characters but its hard to understand if u dont completley delve urself into it. I also want to say its not just a concept, its literally a world he has created that depicts his real life expeirences living with Bipolar 1 and DID in a conceptual way. He has the characters of Mr. insnaity and Mito who are vital to his story. ts very personal to him and so worth getting invested in.

So, I always love when ppl discover him, Christian Yu aka DPR Ian, he's a genius, but the storyline in his mvs is based on the reality of his life & dealing with Manic Depression & DID, the characters are based on his alters, which are called Mito, starting as the acronym Moodswings In This Order, also the name of his 1st album & 2nd album MIITO or Mito II...the other is Mr. Insanity who is the blonde & is explored in the latest album, Dear Insanity...
Christian is the founder of DPR as a whole, it's a creative group that includes several artists like DPR Live & DPR Cream, & does everything for his music down to directing & editing his mvs...
But Christian has been in the kpop community for over a decade, he debuted in 2012 as the leader, main dancer/main rapper of the group C-Clown, under the stage name Rome, based on his Korean name, Yu Barom...
He's actually Australian & that's why he does his solo work in English

OMG yay! This is Harley from Patreon! I am so glad that you liked it! I knew you would, hence why I recommended him! You for sure should get into more of his music! Like how you said it sounded like it could be in a movie, pretty much all of his music is like that! I want to be a music producer and he really inspires me so much! All of the other comments have such good info about him so I won't reiterate what they said but he is an amazing human being! I would recommend maybe starting from So Beautiful if you want to try and figure out the storyline, otherwise really all of his music are Masterpieces so you can't go wrong wherever you start!

It's been like 3 years since I started listening to him and still never get tired of his music. I recommend listening to his music videos starting from the beginning, the story will make a lot more sense from there

No Blueberries and Peanut butter and Tears I'd highly recommend! The DPR IAN rabbit hole is awesome. From my understanding his music incorporates alot of his alter egos "MITO", which is to represent his Bi-polar depresive self. And Mr Insanity which is his hyper, mor manic side

@@marinal. The DID diagnosis is not new for him but he just openly talked about it for the first time lately. I did have a feeling bipolar is not the only thing he was talking about in his earlier albums and music videos though because I also have bipolar 1. but it all makes sense now.

Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Girl, out of all the ppl i follow i am really surprised ur hearing Ian. It's like major synchronicity for me. And she loves puzzles so she trying to figure out each songs meaning. DPR IAN actually watches reactions to his work. He is a growing artist. I have not heard anything by him until this song with u. Love his vocals. But yeah he very dramatic. U getting beetlejuice vibes because he was wearing a striped suit. 0.o I am getting a little Jack in the Box vibes because Jack is a jester type of clown and he uses that too.
