Man, this is the perfect video. Showed me exactly what I needed to see, no nonsense. Thanks.
I'm glad I could help you out
So far I absolutely love how useful this made my truck. By not needing to haul the extra weight dead weight of a trailer down the road my fuel savings alone will eventually pay for this upgrade. I did have to build some thin shims for the end of the bed rails because my tailgate wouldn't open or close at first (that's what I was checking in the video ) but know that I got that figured out I'm very pleased with the build quality of it. With my truck being lifted it does pucker your butt hole the first couple times loading and unloading, but sense then I've got comfortable with the process and zip right up and down the ramps.
hay
I had that same problem with the gate not closing so i would put blocks into raise the cover up and then when the quads went on it would close perfectly
thanks for the video, really nice showing review showing off the product.
Looking at the SXS loading system on a Ram 2500 6.4 box I am excited .. At Least they have roll cages.
Nice skillz, ngl looks scarry af. Thank God for the trailers ;)
It's a little nerve-racking. But you get used to it.
Glad to hear that you like it. How stable are the quads when driving down the road? I will only be hauling one quad and rear loading it. Based on your advice about the tailgate, I went ahead and ordered the shims from Diamondback. I'm sure I'll have some serious puckering when I load and unload it the first time!
The deck is as solid as my driveway. It all depends on how well you strap your quads down
love the truck & the 2 850's :) i have a 2010 850 xp. love it..
thanks again the second wheeler is only a 550. that's the wife's lol
jesse michalies
ur welcome. :) even the 550's are nice. i bet the wife loves it. :)
Ya it plenty enough for her. It's actually my work horse wheeler around the house. I made my 850 to damn loud to be plowing with
jesse michalies mines a work horse to. i wanted to straight pipe mine but people would get mad at me for plowing snow at midnight with it..lol but my next one will be straight piped as it will only be my toy.
Scary loading em
Holy shit dude. That’s pretty awesome
Thanks man
Thanks for putting this video together. When you have the extensions and 2 ATVs on the cover, would you have no problem attaching a toy hauler trailer behind as well?
I purchased a 18 inch shank for my equalizer hitch just to give me some extra room. I could jack knife the trailer before the deck would hit the camper with my original 12 inch shank but that was on level ground. The more one of the truck or trailer are point up hill it would close the gap between the deck and trailer front.
I added some pictures for you to look at
Also, have you found that the covers are completely water proof and the bed of the truck always dry after a hard rain? I appreciate your help.
When there is weight on the cover they seal up great. Unloaded a little water gets in at the car wash but I think it stay pretty dry from rain
I love the vid! Im wondering when you arn't hauling anything are you able to take off the extension on the back easily? I like the idea of carrying two sideways but when your not carrying atv's I am not sure I like the extension sticking out. Thanks for all the info you have previously posted.
The extension comes off with 4 pins. I never leave it on if I'm not using it.
@@jessemichalies Well that sounds easy! Thanks again!
You made it look easy. I would have taken all day and break out the shop lights. I wonder if this set up ever gets the owner pulled over by the cops. Maybe just to check to see the load is secure??
I haven't been stopped yet
I have a ram 1500 crew with the 5.5 ft box could I fit a kawasaki brute force and a honda recon on top like this?
Justin swindle I'm not 100 percent sure I'd assume they make a extension deck for your box
What kind of bag do you have on the 850? Does it work as a seat back for a passenger? Also how well does it strap down.
tyson harris I honestly can't remember I didn't have it to long before I switched to a cooler and 2 smaller bags. I think it was a mad cats or something like that
I noticed in one of your comments that you mentioned you pull a camper trailer as well. Do you use a weight distribution and anti sway system for the trailer and if so, do you have to readjust it when pulling with and then without the quads on the truck? I'm considering this DiamondBackHD system for a Yamaha Grizzly 700 so that I can still pull my 30' travel trailer as well. Also, I noticed you posted this back in 2015...now that it's been a few years, have you noticed any damage, warping, or sagging to the sides of the truck bed over time?
I do use a weight distribution hitch setup. I've uploaded a video to my channel on my gen-y torsion hitch if you want to check it out. I set my hitch up for the camper and then add air to my bags to level out the truck once my quads are loaded. I haven't had any problems with damage to my box sides.
I've also made a second video on my Diamondback cover since the first one if you want to check that out as well.
Just ordered one of these. Would love to hear how you like it so far.

Been interested in what the thoughts on these are, loading looks a lil sketchy! Nice vid.

Nice setup. Does the body fill with dust if you're driving on dirt roads?
Very little if any
Great video - do you think you could fit a 2up machine on it same way, or would it have to go lengthwise?
+xhumeka it would have to go lengthwise
Thanks for the reply - after I posted my comment I found this : townpost.ca/buysell/lloydminster-diamondback-hd-truck-cover - how the heck do you think they managed to fit both those 2ups on???? Looks sketchy!
+xhumeka I'm not sure the box is only so wide
Great Video! I wondered if the gate would have an issue with closing after loading also.
Question: How thick is that angle on the ramps and how big are those rungs? Thanks
wreckingballpi after adding spacer I haven't had any issues closing the tailgate. the ramps are extremely strong. they would definitely hold the weight of a side by side
Did the ramps come with the ATV rack? I'm looking online and the ramps are $499 on their own! Yikes.
wreckingballpi I added them into my atv package along with the extension deck. I'm not sure what everything was individually. call em up and ask for Andy and tell em Jesse referred you. they can probably work you a package deal possibly.
Jesse Michalies Thanks a lot!!
Man.... those little checkerplate steps you have the rear wheels sitting on would sure be nice. My Diamond back cover did not come with those
There called risers and you have to add them to the order
You're obviously not afraid of heights. I ride mine on top of an F350 with just a 2" levelling kit and it scares the shit outta me every time. Haha
I guess I've got used to lol with 8 inches of lift on 37s I definitely always look for a hill side to unload onto
Put the wheeler in low for loading, much smoother and easier on the machine!
Lol trust me there both in low. my 850 is custom clutched at a higher rpm for the bigger tires. it dosnt start to grab until then.
+jesse michalies ahh makes sense
Sounds like your in High gear. Belts gonna be gone before you get to the trails if thats the case.
Filament Feind no I'm in low and I've installed a clutch kit that engages at a higher rpm
if you had a 8 foot you could step off the fourwheeler and onto the tailgate I have a 1969 chevy c20 8 foot 2x2 and yeah.
Stephen Mecheski but then I couldn't park in my garage lol
how is the sway ? i got about a 1000mi. trip .
1200 -1300lbs up so high seems crazy.
tell me what you think..
Its not as bad as a slide in camper. It does sway a little bit sense my truck is lifted. but you do feel the weight sense it's up on the box rails instead of the box floor
+jesse michalies
mine is not lifted . but i have 285/75r18 or 35x11.50r18 tires .
i lowered my truck 1.5 inches in the back. to level it out ..
so i guess i'll be ok .
your tailgate not closing . was that because of the extender ??
did i close without the atv on top?
i saw you posted you added a shim to fix it
It was because of the weight of my wheelers being on the heavier side. They were compressing the rubber diamondback spacer to much so I added steel spacers on each side to give it enough clearence. Diamondback stated they sold spacers and there aware of the issue. I just choose to make my own.
+jesse michalies thanks!!!
I can see my self falling on my ass if i had this setup.
Could you just drive the atv straight off the cover when unloading rather than backing it off the cover?
Shawn Lindsey no because there is a rail on the driver side to prevent you from driving off the other side
Shawn Lindsey check out my latest diamondback truck cover video I just uploaded
What is the length of the ramps that you used?
12 foot
Is the truck not tippy as hell when loaded like this. You probably have 1000 pounds way up high?
More like 1600 up top but with air bags it's not to bad at all. You can feel the weight up there but it's not nearly as bad as like I slide in camper
Hey man how long are those ramps?
12 foot
how mutch you paid for that cover thing
Stephen Mecheski right under at 3000
can you drive a side bye side up from the back? lol
Stephen Mecheski ya if I had the other extension deck kit for the cover
That's a cool idea but I just don't see how that's safe!?? Wouldn't it be extremely easy for that thing to flip travelling at highway speeds or going around tight corners? Lol
It's no where near the weight of a slide in camper which sits twice as tall and they don't just flip over
Yes you are right im sure it makes it very top heavy espeacially on a lifted truck. Any angle that truck drives on should be very scary. I would just haul a trailer i mean they are made to tow.
TheCamaro5 I tow a 30 foot camper
Jesse Michalies
get a toy hauler if you ever upgrade that camper.
TheCamaro5 specifically did not want one. I don't like the idea of parking machines covered in mud smelling of fuel in my living area. Trust me this works great and its 100 percent safe. They have never had a reported accident with these covers. And there built so tuff I wouldn't be afraid to enter a off road race with the machines loaded up. They don't move an inch. There's more then one way to get your things to campsite you just need to look outside the box.
As bad ass as this is, for a little over 2k I’d rather have a trailer, plus I’d for sure find a way to mess something up loading 2 atvs like that lol
I can only fit my 4 seater rzr in my toyhauler so this is my only option if I want to bring the atvs
JesseG's Video's makes sense. Sick set up
Thanks man
do you have something against trailers ?
What do you mean by that? I've got a toyhauler with a 14 ft garage my rzr xp4t rides in. I wouldn't be able to bring my atvs if I didn't have my Diamondback. I also pull 3 semi trailers every night for work so no I dont have anything against trailers lol
just looks like a trip to the hospital..i couldn't trust that
It may look sketchy on my lifted truck but with the 12 ft ramps and 3 inch sides on the ramp not allowing you to drive out of them it's very safe.
Omg sketchy as hell for me! Nice system though
my god that 850 sounds mean
Check out my other videos you should hear her wide open :)
If you don't like pulling trailers why do you own a lifted Cummins 2500? Two quads on a trailer is nothing for a diesel, you wouldn't even know it was there. It would also be faster and 10x safer and easier to load.
+C Genious Lol I pull triple 28ft trailers for a living I don't mind it. I also have a 27 ft bumper pull camper I pull behind my dodge. The diamondback prevents me from having to pull 2 trailers behind my dodge on camping trips. This video was of the second time loading the machines. I've gotten alot faster at loading, to where hooking up to my one of my trailers loading both of them takes longer
I wouldn't drive that top heavy thing anywhere.
only a matter of time.
teampullmyfinger it's half the weight of a slide in camper. and it's also not for everyone.
Oh my God just get a trailer cheapskate.
