Feathered Friends is another option, I’m cozy in the Rock and Ice parka. It’s only -18 right now, but last Monday we woke up to a short blast of real winter at -30. As a pedestrian I was extremely thankful to have something this capable within reach.
Got one of their parkas in green this year and I love it. Definitely not the cheapest option, but imo definitely a better value than Canada Goose or more widely-known down brands.

Yeah, the quality is definitely there and I’m all for supporting local Pacific NW companies but the price tags are absurd. I have an amazing high quality down jacket from Burton I spent $350 on and thought that was a lot but $750 for a jacket is just flat out overpriced. The jackets look really nice though.
Tell that to Canada Goose. As for having just the mere capabilities of making any type of garment in the US of A in the modern age is quite the feat itself, and doesn’t come without its compromises. You are getting a nylon ripstop down jacket (at least most models are) that has exceptional build quality and practicality in mind (two way YKK zippers, hand warmers, inside pockets) and that is ethically made in a country that is now a far cry of what it once being a industrial powerhouse in the garment industry. Selvedge denim, loop wheeled T-shirts, woolen products, and other clothing productions that started in the US have now shifted overseas. In my humble opinions, these jackets are far better than anything you can get that made here in continental US of A.
At 700+ fill power looks like CDW is substantial and very warm.. For me, being a skier living in a mountain town I prefer my Marmot puffy layered under a Patagonia shell or a beater work shell. Slim layers are more functional and give more ease of movement for me. If I lived in Montana or something, different story.
I've had the Italian Vest (in olive) and the Down Sweater (in navy) for a while now and they're both superb. Having Dick's in Edinburgh as one of the original UK stockists of CDW has been handy.
Because it is based off of the M65 liners used in the military. There’s other models like the Arctic Montagne or the one I have, the normal button up sweater with the hood
I’m not gonna lie tho, I’m kinda mad Jonah put this company on blast for the public, I just hope it doesn’t pick up in the gorp-core world. There’s one thing I fucking hate more than posers and that’s companies who make great products who then decide to cash out *cough* *cough* Eddie Bauer. It’s a disgrace what Golden Gate has done to that company. They should’ve let it die back in 2009 so that it could’ve been resurrected like Rocky Mountain Featherbed. But anyways that is just me venting
He has body issues. I wouldn't wear it. I like how I look even if I'm not perfect. Nothing against Jonah, I wish him the best. I like clothes that help me look better.
Great review. This is what I meant by unnecessary cruelty in menswear: "down". In the 21st Century, we must do a better effort to use synthetics and not byproducts from another animal.
It is just a re-iteration of an Eddie Bauer skyliner though, no? I have a Warehouse version along those lines that is also quite nice. Incredibly beautiful jacket though.. It is their vests that hanker after though...

My step father gave me the down jacket that he purchased in 1975 and it is still in very good condition. Buy quality and it will last forever.

I got a Mountain Hardwear winter parka that was specifically designed for mountain climbers. It is the warmest thing that I have ever worn.

It is. Good eye. It’s about 13 years old and the old straps fell apart so I had them replaced with leather ones by a mate of mine.
