Exciting news! 🎉 We’re expecting our second grandchild, and I’m painting cute Australian animals for the nursery. In this video, I share tips on painting fur in watercolour. What’s your favourite animal to paint? Let me know in the comments! Don’t forget to check out my Skillshare classes and blog for more inspiration. 🎨✨
Thank you for all the tips. This video is very helpful. Using just the 2 colors, with a small addition of lamp black, was eye opening and refreshing. GOD bless yiu
Congratulations on the little one to come. Thank you for sharing your art. I love watching you paint the eyes, they are always so expressive and and you can feel them watching you as we warch them come to life.

Congratulations to all the family, a new baby is such a blessing. I am so inspired by your idea of baby animals from Australia, I will be right here painting along with you ! I must admit I have been in a slump for a few months but today you have given me that spark I needed to get back to my love of watercolor painting. Thank you for sharing your good news.
Congratulations! From another Grandmother of three…each new grandchild is such a joy! 🥰 I know your children and grandchildren will enjoy your paintings for years to come.
Very nice painting! I particularly liked your skillful use of just the right touch of white gouache. It's amazing how much such a small detail can add to a painting! Thanks again for a very nice video! And congratulations on your new grandchild coming! I love being a grandmother! My oldest grandson is 23, and he and I are very close. Being a grandmother is a lovely experience, and your grandmother journey is only just beginning, with so many wonderful things ahead for you!
Oh Louise, I'm so happy for you, your husband and off course the parents. I just had my first Great Granddaughter last Saturday. They are simply the best. I hope you will paint a Sloth. They are so ugly they are cute. LOL
Hi Louise, Congratulations on being grandparents on your second grandchild! What a bundle of joy this will be for you and Dom! This little baby will definitely enjoy looking at this sweet kangaroo painting. You have captured his little face and not to forget those big eyes and the eye lashes to perfection! I really enjoyed watching you paint this beautiful painting. ❤Thank you. Helene
Hello Louise, Thank you for this special about fur which is very helpful, because painting fur can often be a tricky challenge. I am sure your new grandchild will loves this painting. It is sooo cute❤. I love animals very much and I once painted my Sphinx catboy "Cookie". (With Schminke Sepia, Deepsea Indigo and a bit Ivoryblack - in smillar colors as you used.) Well, he is quite naked, but he also has a tiny bit fur at some parts, especially in winter. He turned already out quite nice, but I am very sure with the help of this video, I can paint him even better next time. You are so good in painting animals and it is just awesome that you share your experiences and the Australian wildlife with us here. I really wish I could join your other classes, but I am low at money atm and the very little I can afford, I am spending on colors. (Lurking at few D. Smiths for christmas this year) Hopefully this will be better one day and I can visit your other classes, too. Therefore, I am very thankfull for your free videos here and appreciate them deeply. Best wishes from me (Karin) and Cookie for you and your family!❤
Thank you Louise for the lovely little kangaroo demo….its beautiful…..congrats on the new grand baby announcement. Btw i got given the book “the art of the limited palette” after hearing you talk about it…..wow….plus you used a limited palette for the little kangaroo. This is my new direction…..plus i loved your inspirational email. I think you were reading my mind…..i did not have a good painting week, but now Im ready to forge ahead.

Beautiful painting! Congrats on your 2nd grand-child! 👶
Absolutely gorgeous! Love it! As a wildlife rescuer, this is particularly close to my heart. Thank you for sharing and congratulations on the news of your future grandchild.
Hello, if you wet the paper front and back and lay it on a sheet of plexiglass not only will it not buckle but it will stay wet adhering to the plexiglass for a long time. Use at least 124 pd rag watercolor paper. This means you start painting wet on wet. You can do your drawing first then wet paper…it’s a wonderful way to start painting. Then as your paper dries use a spray bottle to keep it wet … good luck.
Living in Arizona here and having trouble keeping my paper wet no matter how much I soak it with water. Any tips for dry climates? I have been doing watercolor for about three years and it has always been a problem. The paper dries in a few minutes making it hard to enjoy the process. Any tips? Thank you.
Yes, I have written about that here: www.louisedemasi.com/tips/2023/9/18/my-paper-dries-too-fast-when-i-work-wet-on-wet There is a video at the end of the blog post as well. I hope it helps. Thanks Nancy.
