Thanks for your great work on this. As you know, sometimes progress is finding what doesn't work. Onward!

Hello there and thanks for your effort in developing Astrosharp 😊. I usually use it after i process my astro images in Siril and tune them for noise with noisexterminator in Affinity Photo and I'm pretty happy with the results! 😊

i’ve always wanted astro deconvolution programs to have the ability to let me input what kind of aberrations or changes to the PSF it should be looking for, i always thought that would help immensely with false double stars and stuff like you brought up here. but i’d imagine it would be an exponential amount of additional work to implement!

I've got an idea for how theoretically it could work. It's just hard to make a function that can get a output the correct PSF value. Some neural networks can actually figure it out (or get a good approximation). BlurX does it very well, for example (based on what is written on RC's website).

I think it would be easy to apply some kind of aberrometer ( Zernike polynomials ) to the center and corners of the image .... that way the equations should calculate the coma, defocus, astigmatismo or whatever aberration is in the image field. Thanks for all your work.

Q: How many bulbs did Einstein have to make before he got one that worked?
A: None. That's why he failed.

    What help do you need?

Thanks for asking! Right now, I think it'd be really nice to have someone who knows python and R well, who can translate one language to another.

Well I understand python but don't know what 'R' is? I was thinking that this is a problem that need breaking up into tiles rather than try to analyse the image as a whole.@@deepskydetail
