From all the countries that Gabriel visited Greece is the best. Beautiful scenery beaches architecture food. Pure adventure. Best country in the world. The people are so nice too.
Yes its beautiful If you visit there as a tourist...
It's a nice place, but let's not get carried away little Jen Jen.
I’ve lived in a few European countries and Greece has the kindest people in my opinion.
@@slkonnaris8477 I like the Germans better
The Greeks are pleasant, but for me the Turks are much more friendly
In the island of Tinos, Greece, dovecotes are a unique and fascinating architectural feature that can be found scattered throughout the island. These traditional structures, known as "peristerones" in Greek, are typically cylindrical or square buildings with a domed roof and small openings for the birds to enter and exit.
Dovecotes in Tinos are often built with local stone and have decorative elements such as geometric patterns, arches, and small windows. They were historically used to house pigeons for their eggs, meat, and fertilizer, as well as for their symbolic value in Greek culture.
Many of the dovecotes in Tinos date back to the 18th and 19th centuries and are considered important cultural heritage sites. Some of the most well-preserved examples can be found in the villages of Tarambados, Loutra, and Falatados.
Today, these dovecotes serve as a reminder of Tinos' agricultural past and are a popular tourist attraction for those interested in traditional Greek architecture and history.
A friendly advice ,1*dont you ever walk ,especially on these paths, wearing sandals .. tinos mountains are full of vipers 2*you must visit Pyrgos village, one of the most Beautyful villages in the Cyclades, if you get there early ask where the old bakery is and taste the AMAZING hand made cheese pies they have 3*eat your diner in the tavernas of the small villages ,usually they have their own meat and vegetable production ,so you can rediscover how real food tastes..
Yeah he is giving off kinda a hippie vibe with his distaste for shoes 😅 But Gabriel has allways given off a bit of a hippie vibe to me, I would guess he was ingrained in the hippie subculture back when he was younger and some of it kinda stuck. Not that its a bad thing though✌️
There was a blue door with a poem written on it on your way to the Volax museum. The poem:
Quote
Titos - Patrikios (probably the poets name)
Paris 1968
THE MOUNTAINS
First there was the sea.
I was born amongst islands
an island myself, temporarily formed/emerged
just in time to see some light and then resink
The maountains came later
I chose them (the mountains)
I somehow had to share
the burdain
that has been weighing down on this place for ages

Your passion for Greece really shows through in this enjoyable series. Thx 4 reminding me of a Greek festival here in Austin upcoming, lots of fun. Opa!
Tinos with tis Pigeon houses and Anafi with its unique wood fired ovens are my favourite structures in the Cyclades. Cool video!
There are about 1000 churches, little churches and chapels in Tinos island
Some day you should rent a car and visit the Zagori region of Greece. You could also see Parga, Ionnina, etc.
Turns out that’s exactly what he did.
It’s amazing to walk with you through these islands and look for similarities and differences. Tinos has a lot to offer for walks, views and buildings to discover. Gabriel, thank you for the ride, again.
From Wikipedia:
Greece
Traditional peristeronas in Tinos, Greece
Dovecotes in Greece are known as Περιστεριώνες, Peristeriones (plural). Such structures are very popular in the Cycladic islands and in particular Tinos, which has 1300 dovecotes.[14] The systematic breeding of doves and pigeons as sources of meat and fertilizer was introduced by the Venetians[15][16] in the 15th century. Dovecotes are built in slopes protected by the prevailing north wind and oriented so that their facade is towards an open space.
It's how Greeks collect guano, which makes for their wonderful tomatoes and other veg and fruits.
Exactly.
And the mattress there was a rabish.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos there are lots of very similar dovecotes on Sifnos.
Still about 150 Greek islands that remain to be visited and documented ...
I know, I'm so far behind. Fifty islands in thirty-four years. At this point it will take another century to see all of them. Time to pick up the pace. (Joking, no plans to see them all.)
Co-incidental Pigeon Holes; most probably four air-smoke control, ventilation?
@@GabrielTravelerVideos 50 Islands😲😲😳😳!!!! You have been already to more Greek Islands, then Greek people have been.
@@koslaz2708 I ve been in more but it's interesting because I always thought tinos is one of the driest and ugliest insland but it seems foreigners love it 😂
Loving this Gabriel 💖
From Missouri
Gabe - So, since you've now hit 50 Greek islands, here's my question: Based upon where you've been, one year from now, you are to spend 6 months straight on one of them in the same house/apartment/accommodation; i.e. live on the island rather than merely visit. At the present time: what are the three islands or so that would be the finalists for your choice? Feel free to apply any decision criteria that suits you. Thanks as always for your time and efforts.
Yes yes ~ that is a good question. I would like to know also!
Tinian marble craftsmanship is an UNESCO world intangible heritage
pure beauty..
What a wonderful island!
Gabe, The little house with the bunk beds and toilet is used by the goat shepherd, when he takes his goats up there.
Dove cotes are all over the UK, country houses have them, many in Wales, you can buy one for your garden.
Your excitement and enthusiasm for exploring Greek islands is contagious! And always there's more to discover. Wonder full! 💚🙏
I Think Gabriel is the One and only Vlogger who has Visited the Most Greek Islands...
Hi Gabriel! Legends and myths accompany the moon-like landscape of Volax and the famous round granite rocks. It is said that it they are the remnants of a mythical battle between gods and giants, that the volakes (large cannonballs) took their shape from the sea that at some point surrounded the area, or that they came from a meteor shower. According to geologists, they are granite rocks that were formed 15-25 million years ago and with the changes in temperature, in humidity, as well as the friction caused by the wind, they eroded and developed a spherical shape.
Have followed you for some years and love Greece like you do. With eleven visits however I think it is time for some language lessons. Although it is a bit old, the 'Greek by radio' course can be found for free online. You could benefit from hearing the more advanced lessons (maybe starting from 50 or so, but you can decide by yourself). It works a bit like Pimsleur, it has a dialogue and then it's broken into pieces and new structures and vocabulary are explained gradually in English and you're prompted to repeat. Load it onto one of your devices and listen to it instead of music while you are driving when you are not filming. I learned spanish the same way. Kepp up what you are doing.
I remember upper case Greek letters and some low case letters used in science.
Another amazing Greek Island. Great video Gabriel.
Wow thank you for taking me on a Greek Island tour, I would never have seen these very different places
Poem on blue door at 27:09 reads...
Titos - Patrikios (Titus-Patricius)
Paris - 1968
"The Mountains"
Born amongst islands
an island myself, temporary emerged
just to gaze on a light and that
like a rock again to sink
The mountains came afterwards
I chose them
I had to somehow find a way to share
the weight
that for centuries crashed the land
The Island is Very Beautiful Thank You Gabriel. 🙂❤👍
Wow! Heavenly ❤ Id love to live there.
If only people could smell the Greek islands. These vids do no justice...
I've smelled sheep dung already
Nice spot to hike at!
Using Google Translate, the first sign, Museum, second sign = Church Museum, blue sign = Volax Tavern, in the village square.
My first thought when seeing the previous video that the building was a dovecote and this one that is now a house looks like one too. Always love these Greek island videos. They are so relaxing!
Back in 1977 when I was a kid, my family and I traveled to Greece and one Island we visited was Tinos. We stayed at the Tinos Beach Hotel. I looked it up recently and that hotel still exists.
Tinos is another beautiful find 🇬🇷💙🤍
22:34 That "γειά σας" was perfect, but the use of "εντάξει" made no sense and that's where he probably got confused. So that "èlla" was meant as "what? I don't understand".
He gave up once you started speaking English 😅
"Endaxi" means "okay", more or less, but I guess a bit different from in English. I was asking if it was okay to visit the church. Ah well. An unavoidable reality of the traveling experience: czcams.com/video/2atkj_KWLl0/video.html
@@GabrielTravelerVideosEntaxi means alright
Maybe you can still use εντάξει Try saying: είναι εντάξει να κοιτάξω. Copy into Google translate to hear the pronunciation. I’m not a native speaker so happy for someone to correct me
What reads on the cement coloumn, is "StarCactus' Which is literaly, what's the carved pictures next to the vertical inscription (Stars and a cactus!)
Hey Gabe. As many times as you've been to Greece , have you thought about learning more of the language so you can better tell what something says or means ? I for one would love to get a deeper dive into your discoveries. Bravo! αγαπούν τα βίντεό σας!
Nice island. Not crowded. So peaceful.
Beautiful, gorgeous Greece! 🇬🇷☀️❤️
Another awesome video Gabe, thank you!! 👏👏
Thank you very much for sharing this incredible Tinos island. It is a big experience!
All Greek islands are beautiful
Tinos is special in my heart because of many miracles in Blessing Mother’s Monastery.
I have been there and was speechless with the beauty and hospitality
❤ great presentation, great video, saludos❤
Amazing, totally fascinating place. My grandfather kept racing pigeons - he always used the pigeon poop on his allotment. The vegetables grew very well!
Go to Pyrgos village. It is considered the Village of the Artists in Tinos.
Next video.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Try Sikinos Island is a non touristic and is like time has stopped there
Sikinos is actually high on my list to visit this time.
Ι could live there for the rest of my life seriously. Titos Patrikios is one of the most important Greek poets and "μουσείο" means museum, mou ssyo. Men are allowed to walk inside the Holy Gate of every orthodox chruch, but not women.✨✌
Gabriel, I have been watching your videos for years and enjoy you taking us along to see the off the main road country. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Another amazing video exploring Tinos Island. Seems to be such a gem. You don't see it being featured when compared with other islands in Greece but it seems to be so worth to pay a visit. Loving the Greece videos. Thanks.
Very nice landscape....so peaceful
insightful walk through, keep em coming got my sub
Just move here permanently and ask for citizenship
This will make perfect sense for him. Much easier to travel in Europe based in Athens than in Northern California. Cheaper too.
But maybe the beauty is I’m not having Greece as your home, but the magical place we dream of ❤
It's not that easy to get citizenship in the EU,a lot of requirements and he's not that Rich 😮
I would if it were easy to do haha
@@meni909He just needs to learn some Greek and pass a test
Man you are on the right route bravo keep on going
Gabrieeeeeeel you need that small selfie-stick, that noise is funny when you’re switching angles ‘cause you are covering mics 😊 and with that you get small tripod as well.
Awesome G.
As usual the best traveller💙💙💙💙
A girl and her passport uploaded a video from Andros tonight, she lives in Athens but she’s American. Probably just missed each other on Andros.

What an island! Always love how you just take the path less traveled Gabriel. Thank you for showing us around. ~Cara 😊
Wonderful TINOS. I was there last year and will be there again next week. Amazing view and people. Have a nice trip. Where are you going next? Thanks for the video. I really miss Tinos 🌹♥💯
Hi Gabriel, your experience & adventure gave lots of Wisdom & Knowledge! More joy, health to you!
What a place tinos is! Definitely up for a visit there some day! Thanks for showing us.
Great and interesting video
If you want more info for the building at the beginning of your video, look at the pigeon coops of Samos island!
My favorite videos👍💜
Absolutely beautiful
24:45 it says they did some work in the 1981
Excellent intro 10/10
lol, I thought that was your Airbnb
Haha, I see what you mean. It would pretty much work, hopefully not too expensive for what you get.
I’m headed to Greece this fall for the first time. Thank you for posting these videos.
Dovecots are popular in scotand too , pronounced dookits here and usually made of corrugated iron by their owners, usually used for breeding pigeons
I'm enjoying seeing your travels. Love Greece. Feel so at home there I swear I was Greek in a former life 🇬🇷
💙💙💙💙
Yes....top 20....Greek tales begin...
Just loving your tour of Tinos. I’m in seventh heaven with you watching this video.✨Such a gorgeous and interesting island. Wow! ❤️❤️
Great video Gabe you've discovered one amazing greek island and it's full of suprises😅
Hi Gabriel, there are loads of dovecotes like these on Andros too...!
Shirley Valentine vibes.....never going home!!!!!
Hi Gabriel, it seems that these people were expecting you there were times you entered the church where there were pictures of the Archangel Gabriel, shown carrying the big Sword or the long shaft slaying the dragon. The last two Islands may be the reason for the bird coops at one time it may have been the only way to get fertilizer for their crops now everything is easily shipped in. The Island is very lush you don't find that on all these Islands like many places around the world, locations become dry Egypt is a prime example of what you see around there.
Gabriel's willingness to test closed doors impresses me and slightly alarms me 😀
I love gyros and a Greek salad. Mediterranean food is by far my favorite. Do you eat lamb Gabriel?
Yes, I eat pretty much everything as long as it's good.
@@GabrielTravelerVideos I’m glad to hear that.
@@AnthonyJoshI'm happy that you're glad, Joshua.
Well done! You make very interesting videos out of simple materials. Nice music and the sound of your footsteps and actual surprises! But where are the people? Sometimes you seem like a lonesome traveler.
If traveling to Greece then only from mid May onwards it seems.
Greece on mainland through mountains, valleys, gorges, rivers, and otyer incredible natural beauties is a gorgeous thing to do in Greece in March also. With snowcapped mountains everywhere.
Its an incredibly beautiful thing to do and experience. Greece is a mountain and hikers paradise. May is wonderful also for spring blossomings etc
26:57 Says "Museum "
The little winding paths & houses look very pretty. I wonder when your visiting places like this with far reaching vistas whether a pair of binoculars would come in handy. Obviously not the big bulky kind.
Gabe! i really like your vedio content 👌 I give u 👍 i really enjoyed watching your vedios and your channel .
Excellent, glad to hear it.
Pigeon bird is a symbol of Orthodoxy, as is the whole of Tinos.
If you go to Chios island, you will find whole villages of the most beautiful pigeon nests
GREAT CHURCHES, VERY BEAUTIFUL PLACE, SALUDOS
Adventures adventures. Safe travels.
It would be interesting to know how many steps you take on your adventures I would imagine it’s in tens of thousands, loving your treasure hunts you find some really interesting places 🏴🙏👍
Tinos is an excellent choice, a very unique and authentic place which I would recommend everyone to visit.
you should go to limnos apparently kavala is really nice and a tiny desert also exists north of the village of abdera
It certainly looks a fascinating Island..
It looks dry and boring

Keep going into those buildings and BINGO a barbershop. 😊😊😊
Have you considered Kephalonia? I have heard its an underrated greek island that is absolutely gorgeous. Also seems like the biggest tourist crowds haven't discovered it yet.
Been there, nice island: www.youtube.com/@GabrielTravelerVideos/search?query=Kefalonia
I am curious did you went to Pirgos and visited the house/museum of Sculptor Giannoulis Halepas? Or to Ano Ysternia to see the church of St Paraskevi with its sculptured interior?
A pigeon tower made specifically for that reason !
I just love those little mountain churches! I visited loads of them on a hiking holiday in Crete last year, some in the middle of nowhere with just a dirt track or even just a footpath for access. There were some pretty crazy winter storms some days, heavy rain and snow so I made a donation at one of the remote churches and warmed myself by a candle for a couple hours. Another night I slept inside one of them! Wasn't certain how the locals would feel about that so I left very early, but I figured Jesus wouldn't mind 😅
👍👍👍
Very nice video of an underrated greek island. Maybe worth visiting once, or more if you are religious. Sorry, but i have visited so many times Kyklades islands, that i am tired of them. Coming summer we go to mainland😊
We had same in Marmaris
Gabriel you used to use as background music for the Greek islands a greek lady singing, what was her name? Thanks
Not sure, I have quite a few Greek songs that I use. I always list the music in the description, so if you find one of the videos with the song then it will be listed below.
