- Day 18 - Stanislav Neuhaus playing Chopin's Piano Sonata no. 3 in B minor, op. 58, live on 10 October 1970. While compiling this retrospective I noticed that from 1970 onwards, Stanislav regularly played on 10 October. That is the date his father died. Therefore this performance was played in memory of his father, Heinrich Neuhaus.

@@Palestrina-us8sv heinrich was an unbelievable pianist and taught greats such as gilels and richter, he absolutely could have gotten away with calling anyone else the greatest chopin performer. even though it was his father, being called the greatest chopin performer by heinrich neuhaus is quite the accolade.

It was dicey to extol his son in Chopin, since Stalinists had pulled Stasik off a plane on his way to the 1949 Warsaw competition which many felt he would have won.

個人的にはBunin(his son🎵‼ )とお父様のChopinには通じるものを感じます。しかしながらBuninの方が繊細で優しい音色だと思います。幼い頃に離別し、ほとんどお母様に手ほどきを受けたという事なのでやはり
血筋なのかなぁと。(お祖父様の演奏は全く違うセンスに思います。)
偉大なるお父様を持った…という点では共通のプレッシャーが二人共あっただろうなと思います✴
What a rendition! Not one passive note to be found, pure Sturm und Drang, especially in the finale. Often hot blooded, perhaps even violent, yet deeply heartfelt and tender in the lyrical sections. Can this recording be found on any CD or LP? I have one recording from 1972, which is half a minute longer. There is also one vista vera cd that features a live performance from 1980.
