I needed this reaction today, thank you.. Such a good time! Johannes can truly sing anything & make it look effortless. And, for me, he is right on par with Freddie Mercury, showmanship-wise. The whole band really do give their all, in all areas of their craft, from songwriting to video production to live performances. If you ever watch interviews, you'll also feel that they are incredibly nice, humble people (and Johannes can definitely be 'the clown'!). ~ The man in gold is Our King - Jonas. Bassist is Henrik. Drummer is John. ~ Aside from the amazing 4-part live-streamed concert event they did throughout Jan., they've released 4 new songs in the past 2-3 months... Barren Cloth Mother (super heavy), Going Hunting (more akin to the 'style' of their latest album, Hunter Gatherer, with a nod to Queen & some more great harmonies).. then we got So Sang the Hollow (brooding/haunting 'feel' with some super low Johannes vocal); and today they gifted us with 'Cruel & Unusual'.. all 4 are an excellent representation of Avatar in general.. You never know what to expect from them, and they never disappoint.

I discovered them in 2020, in the first lockdown. Every Album is diffrent, they do have uniqe musicvideos, and a crowdfunded movie.

How about "Get in line" by Avatar live from Alcatraz!! Its absolutly amazing, feel like you would love it! Also you should really check out "Puppet Show" which is from this concert. Its amazing and also holds many suprises ;))

some info: the guy in the gold jacket is Jonas. The album this song comes from, Avatar Country, is a concept/story album with a short musical film that goes along with it. In it, Jonas plays the King of Avatar Country, a safe haven for metalheads. I HIGHLY recommend checking out the music video, it's full of fun little easter eggs and shoutouts to different bands.
The other guitarist that Johannes introduces is Tim! and Jonas does something like that EVERY TIME they play this song live! In one of their recent shows, he lifted Tim up on his shoulders and carried him around the stage during the solo. I really love how he hypes up all the other members :)
Welllllll....apparently I'm a great uncle if that helps, at least that's what my niece and nephews all say.
Puppet show from the same festival is one of my favorites. There’s also a surprise in it, although the thumbnail gives it away.
I saw Avatar with Babymetal in St. Paul back in 2019. They are a lot of fun to see. They put on a great show.
I saw them with Devin Townsend in a bar with maybe a couple hundred people in 2019. I never heard of Avatar before and they blew the roof of the dump.

Have been meaning to dig into this band ever since I heard they opened for Babymetal, and everyone spoke really highly of them in show reports from that tour. Can't think of a better way to do that than following with you as you check them out and provide your usual keen insight. I love what I've seen of them so far.
Anyone with less command of the stage than Babymetal would be setting themselves up to fail by trying to follow these guys.
Fantastic reaction and breakdown of the performance! First time I ever heard Avatar was live in concert back in 2016 and they blew me all the way AWAY!
