  • You are all very welcome along to Episode 3 of 3D Design Bureau’s podcast. Today, Nick and I are joined by our very own Richard Dalton, our Associate Director and head of our Daylight and Sunlight department.
Today’s topic will revolve around BRE daylight and sunlight assessments which are a key component to planning applications here in Ireland. In short, BRE Daylight & Sunlight Assessments advise on planning developments for good access to daylight and sunlight. These assessments are widely used by design teams and local authorities for planning applications to help determine the impacts that new developments may have on itself and the surrounding environment.

Could you let me know if these BRE regulations are applicable for UK planning as well? Thank you!

Hi there. Yes the BRE guidelines were developed in the UK. We adopt them here in Ireland.

@@3ddesignbureau appreciate the reply. I have a site in the UK with some daylight/sunlight issues and wanted to make sure everything in this video was relevant!
