      Considering they still have the same partners as last year, Capcom are a bunch of -...-, they are now trying to compete against UNICO (who currently hold the SNK and Visco licenses), Atari has a deal with MyArcade, Arc System (Technos) is no longer interested in Evercade, Sega only wants money from the rich, Konami never licenses old games and WBD doesn’t care, there’s only two Sure possibilities: Toaplan 3 from Embracer Group and PIKO Arcade 2 (if we’re lucky, they got SunA and DooYong).
      Possible licenses left, but very uncertain, should be Universal/SETA, IGS, Jaleco, Data East, Tecmo, Taito and Irem.
      Prepare for disappointment.

    • @OM19_MO79
      @OM19_MO79 Před měsícem

      Capcom doesn’t want to license for cartridges, since Blaze would have to pay Konami and ViacomCBS, you’d be lucky if they manage to make a single game card with NES TMNT 1 in a cart the price of a Giga Cart.
      Puyo Puyo is Sega and they only make games for Apple, The Tetris Company could only give them the ROMs for BPS releases and some abandoned by a few third parties, the rest require double or even triple and impossible licensing.
      WBD does not care.

    I was interested in the Alpha but its an 8inch screen. Instead I bought an 8bitdo xbox Arcade stick and both Capcom Stadium bundles (60 games) for half the price.
    The Alpha needed a 17inch plus screen & 2 player sticks with a riser option which would have converted it to a full(ish) sized cabinet. Similar to an Arcade 1up cab.
    I called this was coming over a year ago tho. Maybe if it does well they will release a full cabinet. The price would be a worry tho based on what they are asking for a micro cab.

    DOOM would be a huge one for sure. After all is a console really considered a console if its doesn't have DOOM?
    I think releasing Tomb Raider now and not in December is a tactical move. Its a big enough title to draw attention to and sell the latest console refresh and also its riding on the wave of reignited interest in TR from the remastered collection. Hopefully we see more games of that calibre.

  • @rheck86
    @rheck86 Před měsícem +1

    My guess would be Namco Arcade 1 and if they could somehow wrangle a Midway deal that would be amazing. Hasn't been a quality Midway collection in years, outside of Arcade 1up cabinets. I supposed if they could do it, Blaze could. Still think a Zero Hour/Duke 64 combo cart could be in the works, now that they have an N64 emulator working. More Jaleco/Irem seems most likely, Technos is legacy now and Toaplan has so many vertical shooters that wouldn't fit the Alpha as well.

    When I first got in to Evercade I naively thought that licensing would be easy - dormant IP, money for old rope. Huge amount of retro game market going to re-sellers, eBay, video game stores. Why wouldn't they license their games? My eyes have been opened.

  • @OM19_MO79
    @OM19_MO79 Před měsícem +1

    You were doing so well... until you had to mention the same names that will never be on the Evercade or won’t bring anything to enrich the ecosystem.
    Anyway. About what could we see as an arcade collection (possibly just 2 until 2026, as we’ve seen from the experience between 2022 to this date) are, for sure, another Toaplan collection and a PIKO Arcade collection.
    Why are we getting a Toaplan for sure? Because of Embracer Group, which are still supporting the system (which reminds me, we might get the announcement of the Duke Nukem carts going to legacy soon).
    Of course, we’ll get PIKO, but what can we get from PIKO? There are still some games from Art & Magic and they probably have gotten some other Korean games.
    Now, for those that have a possibility, from slight to maybe, are Taito (if the Super Pocket is not the indication they are just like Capcom), Universal, of Mr. Do fame, which could include games from Seta, Incredible Technologies, IGS, Jaleco, Data East (the PAON DP as well, maybe), Tecmo and Irem.
    What should, no, scratch that, must rule out (and, seriously, I can’t stress this enough):
    Lost partners, Technos and Atari.
    Arc System is maybe trying to sell their games by themselves and don’t want any competition. They released a couple of months some Double Dragon games and are trying to sell the rest of the Kunio games.
    Atari, on the other hand, has an exclusive deal with MyArcade to release their arcade and console games as mini consoles, not to mention that they have succeeded in selling their own increasing library by themselves. Their situation is way, way different as it was in 2020 when they sold their ROMs for pennies to Atgames and Blaze.
    Those who value too much their assets and rather do it themselves or by charging too much:
    Capcom. Nothing to add here.
    Sega: As of now, they want everything exclusive on the Apple platforms, the rest are just Persona and Sonic remakes, if we get to see any of those promised renew stuff from IPs, it will be for Apple Arcade. They seem to struggle selling the Sega Ages on Switch, they are on sale every two weeks.
    Those who always work alone:
    Namco: It was a fluke (possibly a mistake of the European or American offices) to get their games as carts. They don’t seem to be interested in the system, not even to let VS users to play them.
    Konami: since that failed arcade thing on the 360, they’ve released only part of the “important“ library by themselves. Those games that needed extra licensing were a nightmare for Konami, The Simpsons Arcade and X-Men arcade were removed in about a year due to licensing costs and the same happened with the recent Cowabunga Collection (Initially in Japan but it will soon happen outside). So forget about anything Konami and Hudson related.
    Hamster: These guys partner with a lot of companies to publish their old libraries and have also acquired some of their own, these include NMK, UPL and other minor publishers from the 80s and 90s. They have a very lucrative business with the Arcade Archives and they are not gonna let some British company to sell their games in physical form for way less they sell them digitally one by one to a broader audience.
    Nintendo: We`ll have several alien contacts before Nintendo licenses any of their games.
    Sony: Same thing as above. For what games, you may ask? The Mylstar games, former video game branch of Gottlieb. This includes Q*bert (that’s the reason the character is the only video game character who is a hero in the Sony Pictures Pixels movie).
    Those who are now in direct competition thanks to the Alpha:
    SNK and PixelHeart (VISCO): They have a long-lasting deal with manufacturer UNICO (not related to the defunct Korean UNICO that PIKO bought) to release multiple versions as arcade minis, bartops, arcade sticks and others. PixelHeart also has deals with Atgames for including their games built in in mini consoles and other devices as well with QuByte to release the games digitally, which are not PIKO, by the way.
    Those who don’t give an F or probably don’t even know they have it:
    WB Games: This company is a mess. For many years, WB has thought on dissolve it, split it, fold it, sell it, and their recent blunder with DC related games, have put this division in danger. WBD is not interested in selling their old library by themselves or by licensing it. The libraries include: Midway, Williams, certain Bally games, the games produced by Atari Games Inc., which include Tengen games made for various platforms, Cinematronics, Leland, Tradewest (excluiding Technos and Rare games) and certain Traveller’s Tales games
