Who Will Sign Tampa Bay Lightning Captain Steven Stamkos?

The Tampa Bay Lightning and GM Julien BriseBois have not signed their captain, Steven Stamkos, beyond July 1st. Will we see a last minute reverse of course just like in 2016, or will Stamkos hit the open market and land on a new team?

I think he either goes back to the Bolts (he did this same thing in 2016, wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a repeat). Or he’s going to the Habs cause of the Marty connection and Lecavalier is in the front office as well.
Yes Habs PLEASE! Man I would love that. Would be a nice fit for him and the team. We’re in the pivotal middle of a rebuild… he could add so much leadership and skill to this young group
I hate to say it, but honestly, I think florida. It's super close to home, and for the Panthers, an adequate Rinehart replacement and a considerable cheaper hit
Makes sense… but I really think Reinhart stays a panther. Both sides seem like they want a deal done.
Has a Lightning fan I would sink into a fucking river. How dare you speak such demonic words, the prospect of it makes me sick.
Has a Bolts fan I desperately want him back, but it’s looking pretty grim. The main thing that concerns me is I don’t think we’re getting the full story here.
It feels like we’re seeing the middle and end, but not the beginning. Something happened between JBB and Stamkos at some point over the last two years I just know it. Some reason why things have this sense of animosity.
If Stamkos does leave, you just hope it’s to the west for starters, and that Tampa uses the money to do something drastic. If Stamkos goes JBB is gonna have to get to work this off-season to do a deep overhaul of the team.
What I worry though is that Tampa is doing exactly what Pittsburgh did after their chips, and that’s extremely concerning.
He’s one year away from being able to sign with the Toronto 35+ club.
Agreed, Jesse, there might be better better players out there but none of them are him and done what he's done for the franchise

Det deals Copp to CGY for a 2nd and 3rd (or maybe just berggren) Uses space to get Stamkos and Kane. Kane 3 X 4.5, Stamkos 4 X $7.
How people don't see Bolts were never gonna be able to sign him (and still can't now barring a major trade cap dump)
DET needs #1 C, Stays same division, used to 19 as manager, DET up and coming, TB on downside... but Stamkos could easily just go to DAL because taxes much better there and better shot at title quick.

He goes to a low tax state, like Florida Panthers or Vegas Golden Knights or Dallas Stars or Nashville Predators. Not going to Canada. Tampa has offered peanuts for a quality and loyal player

Shocking. His AGENT did this EXACT same thing in 2016/17, during the last time Stammer hit FA. He'll be back in Tampa UNLESS a team offers him some ridiculously silly offer.
And not sure why Jesse is so "shocked". The Bolts have 5-6 mil in cap space. You can't make chicken salad out of chicken shit. IF some team is gonna offer him 9 mil/year? Guess what? The Bolts can't pay it. Period.

He’s not going to a rebuilding team, why would he go to a shitty team for the last years of a career. I think he’s either going to DET, VAN or MTL.
Julien Brisbois has an ego problem. I feel like he’s bitter towards Stammer for some reason … maybe because Stamkos ( autocorrect .. it is def not STAMFORD ) speaks his mind to the media? Not sure. But no GM in their right mind would slap this guy in the face like this. I’d be pissed if I was a TB fan. And I have a feeling this may spell the end for Brisebois in Tampa. He’s done enough … good and bad.
Business decisions are made with the brain, not the heart. Cap space and the team's future is more important than holding on to a player simply because he's been there his entire career and has such a history with them. As a Tampa fan, this is the best decision for the team and I hate saying that but it's true. I don't want my bolts to become what the penguins are now. I'd rather have cap space and a pipeline of young players on the cheap for a quicker rebuild. I'd hate a long drag to the NHL basement and stay down there because JBB chose emotion over logic.
