This melody was stuck in my head ALL month. I knew it was 2009ish but forgot everything else. I could picture the entire melody and music video. I kept humming it, trying to remember any single lyrics, but nothing! It seemed impossible.
Finally it popped into my head at 2:18am.

I interpret this song without the oedipal undertone as a song about arrested development and the attachment of modern men to their parents without being able to 'grow up'. It's partiular special to me because I heard this album around the time my mother died of cancer and it reminds me of her.

My freshman year of college my friends and I went camping. Before we left we smoked some weed and my friend Michael put this song on and we listened to it on repeat the whole way back to the dorms. We could not stop the vibe we all got when that beat dropped. We all yelled and laughed in our inebriated state of mind. When we got out of the car Michael said, "We all shared a memory and we will never forget it." I don't talk to any of those guys anymore but, like he said, I will never forget it.

wow, I literally can find so many motifs from old classics in their songs it's insane!
from the video style of "take on me" by a ha, and "heat of the moment" by asia when they're standing infront of that square grid to little things like the guitar riffs sounding a lot like "more than a feeling" by boston and the keys sound at the end that resembles "the logical song" by supertramp....
these guys are a direct evolution from all that was good and fun in classic hits.
