you dont cheer for this man because he represents your country, you cheer for him because he bends the possibilities of what a human can do, he truely is the goat of marathons
He didn't make sub 2 hrs so not much happened here
Combine that with his humbleness, down to Earth attitude.
@@InTrancedState avg no life
@@InTrancedState Somehow, I don't think you can get sub 3 hours or even sub 4 hours. Not sub 2 hours but still a world record, show some respect
Associate his achievements to Kenya......don't try take that away from us you colonist
Kipchoge is surrounded by greatness and he succeeds with class and humility. I wish nothing but the best for this man and his family. What a lucky time to be alive to witness this legend😊
Kenyans and Ethiopians are crazy good marathon runners. They run like it’s easy! I walked 20 miles in 8 hours for charity, and I was so happy!
Lol, I rarely see anyone surrounding him, unless they're on a motorcycle.
all of them should be running well under 2h...
He’s 52 kg
This man has been GOATED so many times I dont even know what to say. What a legend.
He's got to be the uncontested, uncontestable champion of the 26.2 mile distance. Nobody else on earth has been this dominant for this long, and I doubt we've seen the last of him. It's just the perfect match of artist and medium that comes maybe once in a millennium: he is to marathons what Michaelangelo was to marble.
He's the GOAT of all GOATs
He didnt sub 2 hours tho, yawn
@@matttzzz2 he is the Goat of the Goats ....but without under 2 hour time
@@matttzzz2 He already did
I have said it before and I will say it again. This man has solved the Marathon. He is a superhuman being. Let us remember that he is 37. Outrageous.
Even though i watched him live, i still find tears running down my cheeks when I watch him breaking his own world record. Truly inspiring. 'No man is limited' as he always say. A story of a legend.
Like me... no matter how many times I watch his videos, tears always run down. Is #kingchoge human?
tears? It's cool but he's just running. Not like he cured cancer or something
I'm done putting limits on this man. First half in 59:51 and still smashes his world record. Absolute insanity.
Recon Bekele will go sub 2:01 in London? 😉
@@mathieudube6907 Hey, long time no see man. Nah. It would be crazy if he did, though. London is a fast course, but I'm not sure if it's as fast as Berlin. And that 1:01 half he did this month isn't giving me so much optimism. I'll say 2:04:38 for Bekele, probably finishes outside the top 3 because that London field is so deep. What about you?
@@mathieudube6907 sub 2.01 in London?with his form, definitely not
@@timmytheinventor4746 I'm a little less optimistic than you. I think hes closer to 2:06 and running 4th or 5th.
@@Iletyoulive of course I was being sarcastic.
A sub 2 hours marathon is possible in our lifetime with Eliud Kipchoge 🇰🇪💪
In agreement!
He’s 52kg
I’m so glad he went for it. The first half was so exciting!! He did so well to hold it together in the second half while all alone. Unreal!
The form is so flawless. The way he runs is inspiring
I saw Jordan win all 6 Championships,I saw Serena as she was coming up behind Venus, I lived through the Bolt era, and I lived through the running mastery of Kipchoge. I've been fortunate
You forgot that a guy call Brady winning 7/10 SB's, breaking every single QB record & accomplishing in his sport something that no one has ever done! That I s true G.O.A.T. Full stop!
...and Kelly Slater, 11 times world champion, the youngest and the oldest surfer to become world champion.
And Messi and Ronaldo dominate ballon d’or for like a decade (if you follow footy)
@@quentincrisp6933 how did I forget if I'm naming MY goats that I've seen ? Who's to say that I watched Brady ?
@@cedricmarkworth7334 brother,I listed people I was fortunate to see, I never watched surfing

Take me to germany one day and wlsee those beautiful streets
Im honored and humbled to have ran this same course as him today
Anyone ever wondered how he has managed to go this long injury free... like damn Eliud.
He is literally built different. Like he's got to have whatever the opposite of osteoporosis is and tendons made out of kevlar.
@Optic Flow Makes sense. Plus his extraterrestrial discipline means that his attention to detail on the little things is high. I listened to an athlete in another sport talk about the importance of the little things as the difference maker at the top
@Optic Flow Pro endurance athletes always train roughly 80-90% at a low intensity and the remaining 10-20% at an intensity of 80-95% of heart rate maximum so it's actually absolutely common for pros to seemingly go easy in their training.
However other pros still injure themselves and he doesn't so I'd say he also must be extremely lucky and genetically gifted.
He only compete twice a year. Like after now he will compete again in April 2023 maybe, but other athletes, do it from time to time, month to month not giving your body enough time to fix itself
He eats a high carb vegan diet. Rice, bread, corn, sugar and he doesn't eat fat (especially animal fat) so he recovers better than other athletes. He also trained barefoot as a youngster he said "it built my foundation". Its hard to injure yourself when you have a gentle natural barefoot stride programmed in from years of shoeless running.
Never-ending legend.
My 5k PR is like 19:44 and he does 8 of those in 14:20... thats just MONSTROUS ❤
And a sub-20 min 5k is nothing to sneeze at!
It is still really hard to believe that a human being is able to do this. He did the first half within one hour! And after finishing the race, he still smiles and looked so relaxed!
Kipchoge was born the same year as me. Im 38. When he won his first world championship. I was graduating highschool. He's still setting world records today. Absolutely incredible.
Hes 52kg
@@kingrobert7246 and im 97 😅
People who are younger than 38 might now start counting the years that they still have left to become as great as he is now. But I must say that I am younger and it is not possible to ever be as great as him, so I won't even bother counting. Better enjoy watching Eliud run.
There was a time when I said Kipchoge is the greatest marathoner and Bekele is the greatest runner(his dominance in 3 events:5000,10,000,cross country). But now I'm not ready to just label Kipchoge "greatest marathoner",that seems limiting for a man of his achievements. I say this,I think Kipchoge has def brought a lot of eyes to the marathon, people tune in to watch him,he makes headlines when he wins,he's featured in major publications, crowds come out to watch him, and he's almost treated as a mythical being when encountered by fans. I think he may be the most popular and revered distance runner of all-time
#KingChoge
The marathon is the ultimate test in distance running, far and away beyond other events. He wins.
His times & longevity for this event does all the talking nothing else needs to be said, Peace!
Reality is Kipchoge's achievements in the marathon have surpassed anything the two Ethiopians did on the track, road or grass combined. Geb might be a close second but the biggest knock on Bekele is that with all his talent he did absolutely nothing to increase the profile of distance running on any level. His reserved and uncharasmatic nature made him unmarketable on a global scale. This has obviously been the opposite for Kipchoge. His inclusive, and philosophical persona has been contagious on a global scale and thus is the biggest icon in the history of distance running
@@mathieudube6907 kipchoge has 3 gold medals. Bekele only being 2 years older than kipchoge has 19 gold medals including xc
Mo Farah has 10 and is the same age as kipchoge and he got all his gold medals AFTER bekele stopped running on the track. He's the reason kipchoge moved to the marathon.
Then there's the fact that when kipchoge or any marathoner competes. There isn't even single marathon where you can count on all the best marathoners to be on the same starting line. The competition is diluted between London, Berlin,Chicago, NYC,tokyo, Boston, (the last three which kipchoge hasn't even ran) he essentially only runs London and Berlin which are the two fastest courses.
If we leave it at marathons then yes he's absolutely the best no question. But it doesn't boost his weak track/xc credentials to even compare to people with double digit gold's on those other surfaces
Certainly built different. No denying that. We can all have our own GOATs among these 3 or even any other like the likes of Hicham EG..or anyone else but what is amazing to me is how long these guys have been doing this at such an elite level. These are absolutely GOAT things. If not then what else? Such athletes come once in a lifetime. We're fortunate enough to witness their greatness. Federer, Nadal,Messi,Kipchoge,Bekele,Haile,Bolt, Shelly Ann, Djoker,Cristiano and many more. I can keep on going with this forever 🙏🙏 But for now Kipchoge is certainly a legend of distance running. ❤ Much Love and Respect 🙏🙏
Don't Forget LeBron James. The GOAT of Basketball longevity in the NBA. LeBron James is in his 20th Year and still pulling 30 PPG and he led the NBA in scoring last season in his 19th Year which is ridiculous. It's never been seen before in Basketball
Eliud Kipchoge did not even look very exhausted at the finish, just incredible.
Although he didn't quite finish it with the speed he did at ineos or the 2019 London marathon the first half they went way too fast
Does he ever?
I think once you get your cardio in peak condition, it is your muscles that are first going to fail. So they will never look exhausted.
I woke up this morning and said to my mum: he will broke the WR today, conditions are pretty much perfect!“ well… he is just a phenomenon 🎖️
Yoooo the man ist crazy.💪🏽💯🔥 How can he run so fast almost in his 40s. People should talk about this and give him respect.
Honestly I thought he was going to be defeated by the young boys due to age factor,,, little did I know he was fine wine
I was thinking the same thing too, he will be 38 in November and it's incredibly how fast he is
He is definitely a one in a million and truly talented
He doesn't even look 37 and he is considered one of the greatest runners
I honestly don't think his age is as much of a problem to him as an endurance athlete as you think.
When looking at the best professional ironman triathletes for example you can clearly see that the best are often times between 35 and 40 years old and yet they are the fastest needing roughly 8 hours to finish the entire ironman course.
Therefore I'd say that in general it seems to be the case that long distance endurance athletes tend to peak much later and tend to hold their performance for much longer than athletes from other more strength focused sports and therefore they are not comparable to them.
Kipchoge is actually older than his official age
Nice ageism
Undeniably the GOAT of the marathon....and possibly the GOAT in distance running...
his humility makes him even more loveable
🇰🇪 🇰🇪 🇰🇪 🇰🇪
Not goat of distance running just marathon
@@nicholasdimedio302
That's a matter of opinion ..That's why I said possibly...
Marathon is also distance running , but there's Bekele who I believe is arguably the GOAT of the track
I see him the GOAT of distance running, the reason being the marathon is the ultimate test and he's come out on top, by a country mile at this stage.
Umm but he couldn’t break any other world record so I guess he ran to marathon to claim world record oh well he’s smart for doing it he has a few years on everyone with his marathon training they’re going to struggle to ever beat his marathon record his marathon training has simply compounded for more years
@@marknorris1381
That is my opinion too.
Was so fun to watch! Man did he go out FAST that first half!!!!!
Domination at a scale never before seen ever before he’s earned the praise and more ontop
A champion, GOAT, a humble family man helping his village. 🙏
absolutely incredible, the man is a machine! well done sir
Absolutely incredible run by the man who will live forever. Great video!
This man is insane, for a moment I thought he might break the 2:01 barrier, still it was insane to watch this performance live. In my eyes he's definetly the GOAT of long distance running.
Wrong turn cost him 10 seconds 🤯
@@darrenmcdonald6182 oh really?😮
Bekele is the goat of distance running, Kipchoge goat of marathon
What wrong turn? I watched the whole race. Never saw that.
Goat of Just marathons. There's absolutely no way he's the best overall distance runner. He doesn't even have a medal in the 10k and only 1 track gold
He took a risk today. I think he wanted to run sub 2. Incredible that after many years at the top he still keep progressing. His focus during the marathon is unreal.
Yeah, he was sooo brave today running first half so fast.. He went for it!
@@estebanarayaguzman4012 Incredible run and it is amazing that he keeps aiming higher. But it's not "brave" I think - he ran almost exactly the pacing he would want for a world record in the first half (just a tiny bit fast if we are splitting hairs). He knows that even if he blew up in the second half, everyone else will still struggle to keep up. Fully calculated.
The greatest marathon runner the world has ever seen has produced the fastest marathon the world has ever seen. He really needs no introduction because he is the GOAT.
Kipchoge is the number one long distance runner of all time. Bekele will have to take number two
The sport of running has got to be the most exciting sport to be following right now. It feels like records are dropping almost everywhere you look.
Rock on, Eliud, keep pushing the limits of what is deemed to be possible!
What an absolute legend. Truly an inspiration for the world of running. Don’t know what else to say about this man, speechless.
Kipchoge is truly an “excellence only” type of human being. We’re almost not worthy of sharing this planet with him. What an uncommon inspiration, and our greatest hero!
saw this guy today live in Berlin. Incredible human!!! Incredible!!
He’s only 52kg
Thanks TRP for your continuous high quality videos and commentary, you're the BEST Running/Athletics Channel!
He's the GOAT. #1 for sure. Sustained greatness is truly remarkable
Eliud is more than just the GOAT, he is an inspiration to the whole world, to push yourself further and further - no human is limited
I've only recently learned about Kipchoge, don't know much about distance running, except how hard it is for me to run at all. His mental fortitude and physical attunement is truly something special. And in my estimation, not only is he the greatest distance runner of all time, but the #1 ATHLETE of all time in any field.
0:24 "Headlining this race is a man that needs no introduction"
*continues to give an 85-second introduction*
He’s like usain Bolt but in long distance highest amount of respect to him and his work ethic
Even more incredible than Bolt. A 100 meters sprinter will never know how to deal with the pain that marathon runners have to fight for at least 2:01:10 or longer. To endure that is such a challenge compared to only dash forwards without needing to think of a race stratergy. Eliud Kipchoge is greater than Usain Bolt.
GOAT Long Distance Runner- Eluid Kipchoge. Truly Awesome. Such an inspiration. 👍
Just incredible, thirty seconds off his previous WR, that's without doubt the finest marathon ive ever seen.
Coming through half way in under the hour, and holding it together to the finish, thats more than impressive.
Obviously his training must have been perfect, but its the way that he achieved it, on the day..
That's a record that will stand for a very long time, as it takes simply ridiculous splits to even come close.
It's the finest marathon anybody ever seen!
@@shandytorok259 His Tokyo Olympic title, was pretty magical as well.
Brutal conditions, with very high humidity, and temperatures, yet Kipchoge left the rest of the field in his wake to a very easy retention of his Olympic title.
I watch every single video you post here. And I love the way you start....'alright everyone...' Congrats to Kipchoge.
Amazing much continued success to this man and his family
The upload is as fast as kipchoge's marathon
Olympic Marathons are never about time but the mind set and execution. As such, Eliud Kipchoge will no doubt win the Paris 2024 Marathon but will break no records. He will probably run 2h 6m 30s or there about. I congratulate him for his world record breaking run today, which makes him the greatest icon of long distance running.
Yes, he will break records...by winning it, he will break the record of winning Olympic Marathons...he will be the only one to win it 3 times, there is only two other man to win twice, Abebe Bikila and Waldemar Cierpinski...Eliud also has the record of winning marathons 15 times, 2:05:30 being the "worst" and 2:01:10 being the best time...not to mention his 1:59:40 Vienna and his 2:00:25 Monza runs! So, yes, he will break records, he always does!
I was ONE SECOND off on my prediction for Kipchoge - I had 2:01:10 - the stream I watched showed he finished at 2:01:09
So you underestimated him 😃
He officially ran 2:01:10
this guy is amazing. Simply amazing. My hero. I wish i could be as disciplined as he is.
one of the greatest athletes of all time
As I predicted: World Record but not under 2 hours, but nonetheless to clock 2h 1' 09" is mind blowing 🤯 Eliud Kipchoge the G.O.A.T. of Marathon without a doubt. 🐐
Yeah bro. Running in solo pace was so difficult
Pretty much everyone makes this prediction every single time he runs a marathon lol

He put it all out there with that start - can't say he was too conservative.

Elud's talent is God-given.
Congratulations to him 👏👏👏
Keep grinding Kipchoge... thank you for representing our country 🇰🇪
It is insane to think of running this fast for this long. My heart would explode if I tried to run this fast for 400 meters.. what an inspiration..
I ran the Santa Cruz wharf to wharf race in 1978 and I tried to keep up for the first mile with a the Frank Shorter 10 K race Champ types at the front and just about exploded my heart. I did have to back way off for the second mile and yet by the third mile I shaved off 30 seconds on my mile #2 pace and then held that pace to the finish line at 5.9 miles. The last half Mile I stretched my stride and was running flat out full speed at the finishline. I finished in the Top Ten Percent that day and for someone who was a cyclist and only trained for the race by running for 6 days prior to the race, I felt I did OK.
@@MilesCobbett you wrote all that just to brag on the internet. Congrats, you're so cool 👍😬

I've never understood why there was so much hype about Bekele. Kipchoge is indisputably GOAT!
Yeah by now it's a fact kipchoge is the undisputed king of marathon I would even say Wilson kipsang has more marathon wins than bekele however in the track bekele was brilliant however Joshua cheptegei is challenging the times set by bekele
Don't be disrespectful!..Bekele has been world champion in track..cross country and is only second to Kipchoge in best marathon time... That explains the hype..Bekele is worth his weight in gold!
It is scary that Eliud Kipchoge is just getting better and better!

What an absolutely exceptional human being. Incredible.
I think he is nmbr 1. Longevity is in my eyes the most important for someone to be recognized, and remembered.
And the best thing: He is humble, and absolutely down to earth. He has good chances to become the best long distance runner of all times.
Eliud Kipchoge is not just one of the best-ever distance Runners. He is one of the best-ever athletes, regardless of event or type of Sport.
Just watching him run inspires me to do the same and try to run a marathon someday.
I've suffered an ACL-Tear this year and it's been rough but I know with steady training it will be possible.
*Great video. Very well done!*
There's no question Kipchoge owns the marathon. What's crazy is I honestly believe he will break that record again! He still feels great, he loves running, & he doesn't listen to naysayers who talk about his age. Look at other endurance athletes, like Sorokin, who just broke the 24 hr Record, & he is 40 years old! Kipchoge, who is only 38, could conceivably break his 2:01:10. Maybe @Berlin 2023.
No way bro 😭 😭 This is madness 💀

FANTASTIC, WONDERFUL, AWESOME, CONGRATULATIONS ELIUD KIPCHOGE
This guy always practice so hard 🥺 I've seen him once practicing at Eldoret Kenya, having different pacemakers. When the 1st group of pacemakers are tired, they exchange with another group of pacemakers. He runs so fast🤯
Because he trains so hard, he wins easily.
I have no reason to believe that he won’t defend his title in the 2024 Olympics. He seems unstoppable.
I think that he will almost certainly be the Olympic Marathon Champion in Paris 2024. He is a league above everyone else right now. He is still progressing at 37.... unbelievable! The man makes the impossible possible. He may even break his own world record yet again. Breaking 2hrs in normal conditions seems out of reach, but this Eliud so who knows. Looking forward to seeing what he does next.
What a LEGEND!
He is an Asgardian, he gets better the more he ages.
I think he is actually 41-42, not 37. See the talk page on his Wikipedia article #Validity_of_date_of_birth
