- Christmas Cat, or Jólakötturinn, is a character from Icelandic Christmas tradition. It's a giant cat that, according to legend, roams Icelandic villages on Christmas Eve. It was believed to observe whether people were hardworking, and notably rewarded those who had completed their tasks before the holidays. Those who didn't meet these expectations could be "swallowed" by the Christmas Cat as a punishment for laziness.
Thank you for this video. I miss Iceland. ❤

They knew of the legend.

The video is old because the 5 metre tall cat (sculpture) hasn't been there for a long time.
This video includes the Christmas Cat Lighting Ceremony. The movie is from 2023. The cat does not stay in the center all year round, it is hidden after Christmas
So first I would like to apologize.
Because some videos do it that way.@@sigmaexplore
What are they protesting now?
It's just turning on the lights on the Christmas cat. Please see the video description.
