Hey guys! We hope you’ve been enjoying all the video releases from our recording project with the Dover Quartet. This was the first song we recorded (of 18) during our 10-day shoot…we were so excited to be playing together again! 🙌 We were figuring out shooting angles in the new studio as well as working with a new videographer (thank you, Casey!) and we definitely learned a lot from this first shoot. One is, make sure there’s enough space to capture the whole group in the shot! 🤣 Hopefully the energy in the music still comes through- we had a blast playing it! Make sure to check out Dover’s performance of Dvorak's "American" Quartet, which just came out today over on Brooklyn Classical ( • DOVER QUARTET - Dvorak... ).

BROOKLYN DUO BIO:
Founded in 2014, Brooklyn Duo has quickly established itself as one of today’s most successful classical crossover ensembles. Through its creative arrangements and live video performances, the piano and cello duo has garnered a huge following, with over 1.2 million CZcams subscribers and over 150 million streams annually on platforms such as Spotify and Pandora Radio. Their music has been used in numerous television shows, including Grey's Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist, America's Got Talent, and most recently during the 2020 Democratic National Convention.
Members Marnie and Patrick Laird met while students at the same chamber music festival and were married in 2012. Both worked as professional musicians after graduating from the Eastman and Juilliard schools of music, respectively; Patrick as a founding member of popular cello rock band, Break of Reality, and Marnie as principal pianist of the New World Symphony. In 2014, on a whim, the couple recorded two covers and released them on CZcams. They were thrilled when Shakira herself took notice of their cover and tweeted about it. The boost from that exposure and the positive response they were getting on CZcams encouraged them to continue creating videos.
Today, Marnie and Patrick have released over 100 videos on their Brooklyn Duo CZcams channel and 10 albums of covers, spanning artists from The Beatles to Metallica to Ariana Grande. They also have a second CZcams channel, "Brooklyn Classical", which aims to introduce classical music to a larger audience through high quality, live video performances.
Popular classical music stations Classic FM and WQXR regularly share Brooklyn Duo’s music on their social media pages, with Classic FM calling the duo “masters of the artfully planned pop cover.”

Ooo, I love this one! Beautiful playing -- the blend, the dynamics, everything. Great arrangement, too! There are tons of details I love, but the harmonies, the dynamics I already mentioned, and little things like the parts that are plucked now and then -- lots of great contrast throughout the piece!
