  • In this video, I go over treating Congested Acne, which is very often misdiagnosed.
    The common signs are:
    - Small white bumps
    - They are not pimples with pus but congested
    - They can spread to other areas of the face
    - Food related
    Foods to avoid are:
    - All dairy, like milk, cheese, ice cream etc.
    - Soy milk
    - Egg yolks
    - Omega oils
    - Fried foods
Blushes that I have seen cause additional congestion with this skin condition are:
    - MAC
    - Bobbi Brown
    - NARS

I get this reaction from consuming strawberries, raspberries, Blackberries, peanuts and - yes - dairy from cows. The berry/peanut reaction is pretty intense and comes on fast. In my case though, it starts as congestion, but can end up as pretty
severe acne over time, if I dont change my eating habits. Havent noticed a reaction to soy. Interesting video. Are there studies going into this?
Milia though is not a fatty substance, its a hard keratin crystal, which some believe can be trapped In the skin when using very occlusive products, I feel Ive seen this happen, but as far as as I know,Its not understood exactly why they form.

Cause I know it’s not milia or white heads, ugh I’m so frustrated, I have them on my cheeks, forehead and chin and like you said they don’t hurt! But you can extract it if you try. Wow. I guess I gotta quit dairy for good soon and see what happens. I was even on Doxycycline for a while it HELPED but didn’t eliminate it, it’s like a carpet of these bumps all over. Makes me SO insecure. Thank you for this video. I’ll take your advice and cut out the dairy slowly.....

@@deema9482 has your skin improved after cutting dairy out? I struggle with this too and my skin has cleared up everywhere except in this one patch on my right cheek and a little on my chin. Ended up trying to extract the bumps a couple years ago and that caused a scar so it's frustrating. Going to try and cut dairy out which is going to be difficult because I love cheese and pretty much all the foods I'm supposed to avoid! My skin has responded really well to chemical exfoliation. About 3 times per week I use The Ordinary 7% glycolic toning solution and another product that I recently found that seems to be helping is Peach Slices snail rescue blemish busting toner. Stopped wearing foundation which Did help and most of my acne cleared up after about 4 months but not the congested area on my cheek. Microdart patches and hydrocolloid patches help draw out and treat these bumps too but I suspect it's the dairy in my diet that's going to have to go. Someone mentioned bone broth so maybe will try that too. Humm nutrition makes a supplement for gut health that is supposed to be very good and I would like to try that to speed up healing. One other thing I will mention that really helped my skin was Microneedle treatments. I know some people really hate the idea of it but it helped me a lot. And instead of l-ascorbic acid I do better with sodium ascorbal phosphate as there's some evidence that it can help with acne prone skin. My vitamin C serum is from Gin Amber Beauty and I swear by it. At night I like Cerave Resurfacing retinol serum. This is a lengthy response but I wanted to try and share all the things that have helped me. Sugary foods may also be something I need to at least cut down on as it seems to also potentially make my skin react. Oh, and one last thing, Sunscreen! Tula Mineral Magic Spf 30 is So good. It's expensive but I think they may be on to something with the prebiotics and probiotics in their formulas. Be careful of that brand though because a lot of their products are more expensive and contain some irritants. Hope you are well and maybe something I mentioned will be helpful. It's so hard to find products that work that don't cause more problems and everyones skin is different. 🙏

Thanks for this video! You hit many points that I am facing now. Most of the congestions are in the middle of my cheek areas. I might have a gall bladder issue as I often bloat and cannot digest very well so the doctors suggested I take pre and probiotics supplement which helped but I still get gastric attacks every now and then. The bloat is worst during ovulation (mid cycle of my period).
My aesthetician extracts the congestion using fingers that are thickly wrapped with gauze. However, I find that after each extraction session, she probably only removes 5% of what's there overall and my skin is always still very bumpy so much so that I tend to extract them myself but the rate of them reappearing is way faster than I can extract (I am talking about reappearance in about 12 hours every day!) Not sure what can slow this congestion rate but will try your recommendations on diet.

That took several months to completely clear up but my makeup was definitely causing issues. Going to try and cut dairy and possibly sugar out because I have one patch of skin on my cheek that hasn't responded despite the rest of my skin clearing up. It's just these white bumps that are super annoying and have caused me to feel very insecure. I suspect it must be food allergy or something would have helped by now. Sometimes it's better and sometimes it's worse but it's been really bad lately and I think it's due to these energy drinks I love so much which happen to contain milk. Thanks for all the information! Hello thank u for this! I’ve been struggling with acne since march. My skin used to always have some pimples but since march everything started on my cheeks and I don’t know why I started with retinol it made my skin much worse. Since 3 months the acne on my cheeks is so so bad like even on my neck I don’t get it just as u explained in the video. I noticed that it Durant fully look like normal acne but also I eat everything u mention in this video 😢 I really wanna cry not because I’m insecure just because everyone says something different and I really spent a lot of money on skin care I can’t anymore

Nerida, I’ve been so certain that this is the issue with my skin that I’ve had for few years now! The description fits my skin problem really well, but my white bumps (look like closed comedones) end up turning into pimples that hurt with pus in them if I don’t extract them, they’re all located around my mouth area, chin and jawline. Is this the same white bumps you are talking about that are food related or am I way off track? Please help!

Ive had this issue with my skins for yearssss. Sadly after going through many treatments i did come to realize it was food that was the issue. It’s very hard to give up cheese 😅but hearing it from a professional is a little more motivational. My only issue is im a pescatarian so hearing no salmon is discouraging 😢 Is it recommended to avoid goat cheese as well?

I have been getting the same acne for years. I had a hunch that it is related to food but doctors kept telling me otherwise. Thanks for reassuring. ❤
I never kept a food journal as i was confused. But i know this very clearly that eggs do that for me, 1 cup of capuccino/strong milk tea, especially taken in the 2nd half of the day, an oil based gravy dish from a restaurant. There's more but i have to journal sincerely.

I took acutane and the big breakouts went away but the bumps on my cheeks and around my mouth won't go away. I've tried everything. So many different pills creams and face washes. I wash my sheets often and have satin pillow cases I drink water all day every day and I even decided to go vegan and have been vegan for 3 years to the point where I am severely underweight due to all of the foods I was instructed to cut out. Nothing. Is. Working. I get extractions it just comes right back I don't know what to do and I genuinely just want to give up or get skin grafts to replace my skin with somebody else
