If the water was clear as the sky and you could see them 100M away coming, you can prepare and not be as scared. But when they blend in so well and appear in 3M or so away. Thats when its scary
The shark spawns in like the one from GTA V lmao Seriously though, it’s pretty impressive how close they can be while completely camouflaged in the water.

We were told visibility was approximately 10m that day but honestly, as you see in the video, I did not see the shark until he was about 5m in front of me. Eerie how he just suddenly appeared
No, didn't feel an ounce of fear. Just overwhelmed with excitement and adrenaline and being totally enthralled. Didn't even feel the cold until about 40 mins in. And trust me Foveaux Strait is pretty cold in March!!!
I was amazed to learn on this trip that there are up to 120 Great White Sharks around Stewart Island at any given time, so I guess that might make some people think twice about going in the water 🤔😱
It's actually more difficult than it looks, as the swell is surprisingly strong in the cage, just below the surface. Your feet need to be securely inserted in the strops on the floor of the cage and you need to hang on to the handrail real tight, which isn't easy with just one hand, but, f course, you need one hand to hold the camera too and to clear your mask and adjust your regulator (if needed). Bouyancy plays a big part too.
That was the thing that amazed me the most, how he suddenly just appeared. I thought the visibility was quite good, until I saw him suddenly there in front of me😱

Same here.
For me I'm happy to stay 320km away from the ocean.

Nearly all shark attacks occur in shallow water.

Great animal! Was it scary when you saw the shark approaching?? I would love to do that once in my life!
Great white shark is my favorite shark plus I love underwater sound .
Me too. Can't beat being under the water for sounds but even hearing that sound on videos and audio, etc is very therapeutic to me 👌🏽😁
I love sharks they are so cool one of my favorite animals
Nice one
Me too. Just soooooo majestic to see them up close too. Beautiful creatures 🦈💖

When ever you feed wild animals you habituate them to humans and they begin to associate humans with food. It never ends well, for the animals.
agreed
They just cruise around and the law of statistics takes over and they win just a matter of patience and time
