After watching this video I bought FR 245 and I am extremely happy with "smart" Features and Music Control Function. The sports Features are also OK (they were enough for FR 235). And now I can say - they're even better than I expected ... I wanted more "smart" Watch als Fitness Tracker.
    Thanks for this Video.

Excellent review based on your personal experience with the watch. Balanced and very informative. Not completely Garmin-centric with nice comparison to other models and brands. Fills a gap in review market with good discussion of features poorly covered in other reviews. Agree on price gouging. I personally think the watch looks a little small and chunky on the wrist compared to say previous model, 235. I've wondered about the data syncing to phone & ConnectIQ with the standard Bluetooth v WiFi offered on some models, but seems the BT works nicely?

    @argentum3919 Před 3 lety +2

I never even knew I needed Garmin pay. Now I like the idea but it's just a convenience on very limited occasions. My biggest gripe with this watch is the face size. Unfortunately, all these sports watch companies go for style over substance. For those of us that use reading glasses which we will not run with, we need bigger watch faces so that the smaller font is not so small whilst still having four data fields. They should have a line called Garmin Read eg. Garmin 245 Read which will have bigger watch faces, then let the buyer decide if the bigger size isn't to their liking. I'd go for the bigger face every time. I don't care about style this is about running/exercising not picking up girls.

I like your reviews. Could you do a summary list of all the devices you have tested that measure SpO2 and then order them into classes and choose the best for each?
I know some are to only be worn at night so that would be in a different class than those that can also be on the wrist and be used as step trackers.
I was going to get a simple finger SpO2 and then the price doubled.
I also wonder how do the ones on the wrist actually work as the ones on the finger are sending two signals through the finger to compare oxygenated and deoxygenated blood and then come to a total I thought, so how does the the red light two signals measuring process work on a wrist?
People appreciate your ability to assess the SpO2 feature, among other aspects.

happened upon your review because I am upgrading my 230 to a 245. To be fair, you are reviewing a device that is an out an out running watch. So while the cost may seem high for you, you are not really using any of the features that the watch is specifically designed for. As for durability, well I have had the 230 for 6 years and wear it for everything. I do not take it off. It has been through a lot. Ironically, I am replacing it because I know have a hairline crack across the face, but I think that is just bad luck. I got a chip on the bezel a few years ago and I must have banged the exact spot. The watch is stull usable and I still shower with it, but I cant stand seeing the crack. After 6 years, it works out to about 1c per activity I have logged with it

Good review, completely agree! I have also a VA3 music, actually it is on warranty because a 1cm white circle appeared with dead pixels. The 245 seems a better option with buttons and metrics which VA3 doesn't have, also we don't understand why, like recovery time and training effect.

Great review! For 9:27 you mention you can't disable specific notifications; do you mean you can't do this through the Connect IQ app either? I've had a Garmin Forerunner 35 and I was able to do all that through the app.

Great review. Its a great watch, but garmin pay would definately make it perfect. Anyhow, just ordered one after really long market search...just because it is great with sports, and i dont need Oled and calls on my watch anyway.

Great video but what I really want to know is can I set my own targets e.g. Keep walking in HR Zone 2 or 3 and alarm if my HR gets too high or too low. If anyone actually has that watch, I'd really like to know this before I fork out for one.

@Ed I found it the other day. It's SkyTracker - Pro Graphics. I think there is a paid version as well as a free one. I have the free one, which I *don't* think lets you customize. I could be wrong on that point, but this is the app.

    What a review mate! Wow!
And yeah, it’s soooo expensive. For same price you can get the Galaxy watch Active 2 or the Apple Watch 4.
Tbh it’s not more than $199 worth. Don’t get me wrong, the watch looks so good but, it’s a whole lot of money for 42mm and all made plastic.
Here in France I can get the 245 music for $350. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Hi man, how are you ? I really like your watch videos, you talk about everything. many give only explanation about running, others about the gym and few about the sleep tracker. I have the ionic fitbit and I really like it because it has a good sleep tracker and also a fitness tracker. Test Samsung and I found his Tracker very bad, I can't understand the reason, such a good brand. Anyway I would like to exchange my ionic for a newer one, which in your opinion has great sleep and gym monitoring? I also like a sleep tracker. thank you
