My dad was one of 10 children and he was the only one put up for adoption. His adopted parents were a godsend but at the age of 71 he still struggles. Kirk's story has helped him ❤. Great interview Shannon.
🙏🏿
Man that hurts...I don't think there's enough lifetimes that can heal that wound. Sending love to him ❤
No no no... you don't question God. Look at your career Mr Franklin. Look at how many people your music has touched. Your life went EXACTLY how God meant it to go and it is a testimony. Please don't question God. Thank him for all the things he kept you from that you did not even see. Your testimony is a blessing.🙏
@@jelx1107This is not related to the comment about this woman's father 😂 whatttt
@@jelx1107Shut the F up. I question your mother for now swallowong. Go back to your section 8 home and thank the government with your bast ard child. F white Jesus. And your maw.
Please know you can forgive someone and not want to ever be in the same space with them again. You can forgive people who has wronged you and not ever want to put yourself at risk of their behaviors.
Yesss‼️‼️
Sure can ...forgiveness does not require friendship!
Easier said than done. From my own personal experience
@@TaySaidSo 🎯
Please know forgiveness is a process. It's not always an instantaneous thing.
I'm so honored to experience our men to have such an open, vulnerable conversation about REAL life!
Y'all still don't care. Pay attention femalessss are the source. When y'all gon change y'all ways
LORD, have mercy on us. I'm a mother; motherhood is the toughest hood I've ever been in.
This is why paternity tests should be mandatory, married or not.
They are required in SC if the Mom needs social services
This is mandatory in Illinois if the mother needs welfare.
I agree. So many men have missed out on relationships with kids they did not know they had.
Facts but the problem is women will vote against it. 40% of DNA test are found to be not the fathers.
I agree
I 100% agree with Shannon, when he told Kirk, "You can't blame her for giving you up, when she was 15-years-old, because most 15-year-old girls can't even take care of themselves."
However, that 15-year-old, eventually became a 25-year-old, a 35-year-old and a a 45-year-old, who had to want to know what became of their child and more.
That's where I blame her.
She was old enough AND knew the truth where she could have contacted Kirk and told him the truth.
Even if she didn't know Rick was Kirk's dad, she should have openly asked Mr. Rick to swab, just to find out, when the rumors started.
That's where I hold blame.
THIS‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Maybe Shannons most powerful and important conversation yet
Ric Flare interview was a good one as well
I met my biological father in 2021 at the age of 37 years old. I totally understand his situation.
Do u have a relationship with him and was he welcoming to u?
But to claim to be save not to forgive is not to saved at all.
@marman3382 To be honest, it's hard to forgive when you're in the situation. Whether you're into highly religious or not. Throughout life, you will have to process whether to forgive for a number of crazy situations. It's hard my guy.
@@marman3382unless you lived it, it’s easy to write that in the CZcams comments, champ.
@@roxyj3182 no didn't meet my till I was 32, his other son found me on Facebook.
This excerpt is the epitome of transparency. The pain is evident. It's a lot to take in and process for Kirk. Sending loads of love.🫶🏾
That's a really deep conversation. Kirk Franklin's vulnerability is very touchy and amazing.
It was divine process how Kirk came to know who his biological father was. Not by coincidence.
Just when you think you’re alone and your feelings are unique, you hear that someone is having the same thoughts and feelings as you.
I love the way Shannon conducts interviews. He’s asking all the questions I wanted to ask. I can completely relate to his battle with God. The good news about this battle is that God will show up and turn this in Kirk’s favor. So many people needed to hear his testimony for this own healing. Praying for healing for Kirk and his family. ❤
This is one of the most honest, transparent interviews I have ever watched. Shannon Sharpe I appreciate you for always keeping it real on Club Shay Shay and I respect Kirk Franklin for bearing his soul. Blessings from The Bahamas gentlemen🙏🏽
I’m sick of all these family members and their secrets! It’s annoying!
I found out about my biological father at 53 too, it makes you feel like you’ve been lied to all your life. In my case all persons involved are gone now. I feel bad for the man who raised me, he was also lied to.
Kirk said... can I get a little bit mo on the height? 🤣🤣
Mr Shay Shay Was Being Messy!!😂
This is why the gospel of GRACE is so important in the church, God knows our challenges but he doesn’t hold them against us as his children.
I can relate to everything Kirk is saying. I met my biological father at age 29. Although I was happy, I knew it wasn't going to be peaches and cream because we spent time getting to know one another. During the time, he fell ill and died 3 years ago from kidney failure at the ripe age of 75. But I did get the answer I was looking for which was he always wanted to be in my life, but my mom was the one that stopped it. Therefore, I understand Mr. Franklin better.
🙏🏿
How did you find him trying to find my dad
No judgment. Deborah is not ready, to be honest with herself, let alone speak on it. Prayers to Kirk, and stay in therapy.
Ready..... 50something years what if she dies today she is the mother write him an apology I think she can't speak it but he needs it to heal she needs counsel to know it's no longer about her lie it's about him healing
She knew who the father was mo likely. You know who you been with.
She's a wicked hearted person ... end of story
Kirk's mother is emotionally dangerous I would not have her in my life.
His mom is so embarrassed she can’t find it.. the guilt has consumed her thoughts.. especially being a teen mom at the time.. I feel so bad for Kirk.. and all those who are looking for answers! 😢
Shannon does a really good job allowing his guests on his show to open up & talk instead of beating them in the head with a buncha questions that don't matter. Good interview.✨
This a powerful, transparent conversation as a man, as a person. Thank you for sharing this conversation. It can help so many peel back their layers, understand their internal struggles and know they aren't alone. powerful
You know what I hate about all this is that nobody holds women like his mom accountable and there’s a lot of them out here old and young going unscathed because they’re females meanwhile men get dragged constantly
Bro I swear.
Yet women will argue we live in a patriarchy when they’re never held accountable and they NEVER accept any accountability. It’s laughable……This is also why paternity test should be mandatory, whether you’re married or not…..
Man there was a few cases on paternity court just like this. The mothers don't show up because of shame.
I mean.... Like wow.. This woman is a demon to do what she did... And everyone averts their eyes as if they don't see it!
What people don’t understand, is that forgiveness doesn’t mean reconciliation. You can forgive, but you can also
choose to not deal with people/persons and the like for your own peace and peace of mind.
You are gravely mistaken that statement is steep in feelings and emotions reconciliation is absolute and final if both parties want it akin to Jesus forgiving you and not allowing you to enter Heaven !!!
@@quinnbat You know what, sir? I've been thinking of nothing else reading these comments. I hope Kirk can forgive his mother and I hope his mother repents and confesses the truth and asks for Kirk's forgiveness because we know what will happen if they don't.
They weren't healed enough to be on your journey at that time. God was there.
My mother could NOT be part of my healing process. Kirk doesn’t need to open up that door because I promise you there’s more trauma on the other side of it. Therapy is something you have to be READY for, it’s not just something you show up to. His mother isn’t ready. Real talk a lot of women will never be ready because they’re not used to being held accountable.
Excellent discussion! Shannon Sharp has become amazing at hosting these discussions and Kirk Franklin has come into his own! These men are doing middle age beautifully.
I loved this.
That momma has a story too...thank you Kirk for sharing this story. I understand it completely
A story she didn’t have the decency to share with her son. I believe she has denied the DNA tests to this day. No accountability.
🖕 the wicked hearted
And she lies about it...
This is such a powerful conversation!!
Shannon is a lot smarter than I ever knew. He said to reach out to heL you..not her. That's powerful. That's how he will be able to move on
To think about all the different emotions that he must have and still continues to have, to maintain any sort of sanity among the madness, is truly such an amazing thing, I have nothing but the upmost respect and love for Kirk!
Shannon is great in this interview. He has given great advise.
Kirk your mother is toxic you need to heal separately from her
He is so open and honest. A lot of people are struggling with the same family issues 😢❤️🩹
My father never wanted a relationship with me. And years later I have met my brother and his children. Most of them have openly accepted me, but I struggle the relationship.
I understand Kurt. My mom not in my life and we got distant when my dad died. She does more for others then me, so I understand a lot❤😢
Mannnmn! My mother will drive 7 hours for a stranger but wouldn't drive 20 minutes to my graduation. But for everyone else would jump in front of a bullet.
This is probably one of the most profound and insightful interviews ever.
This is therapy !!! 🔥🔥🔥 only at club Shay Shay !!!
Man.... By far, one of the BEST podcast that You've done Unc... Truly awesome! 👏🏾❤👍🏾👊🏾
I'm Kirk Franklin's #1 Fan. Have been for over 20 years. Wish I could meet him one day. I pray that God continually bless him and his family with more love in Jesus mighty name.
I can truly see the sovereignty and the grace of God in helping Kurt Franklins healing process. Giving him deliverance in levels of his life. Removing generational trauma, curses, rejection and egotism. Because pain he bares is carried by his mother also. Now that he has started the process of therapy to speak openly about his experiences and mental anguish. He and his biological mother will eventually communicate about her pain filled emotional baggage. Fear, denial, pride, embarrassment or feelings of guilt. God will be glorified in Kurt’s Testimonies because he will eventually be made whole. And the demons chained to his bloodline will be set free. He just has to take the deed and title back to his life as a healed and healthy man. Then his soul can be restored as psalms 23 proclaims. Amen Kurt 🙏🏿
Kudos to Shannon for having a platform to share his wisdom he gained from his painful experience as well. Beauty from the Ashes.
I was adopted at birth, met my all of my bio folks due to curiosity, and a medical situation which God healed me of! I'm so glad that I represent the generational DNA of 3 families, GLORRRYY!!!!
Seeing the pain in his eyes 😢 Kirk’s story hits home in a major way ❤
Oh my God! The wisdom from Shannon on Kirk reaching out to his mom was powerful! God bless them both.
Honest conversation
I feel like his mom should be ashamed of herself, not just because she keeps denying those DNA tests and keeps going with it she still is not trying to build that relationship with her child or at the very least answer those questions Kirk has.
Shame. She don't know how to deal with it.
I believe that for Kirk he needs to stay away from his mom as he's doing his mom is emotionally dangerous. and I believe her growth is stunted as well as her mind that's a dangerous combination.
Shannon is the Modern Arsenio Hall + Oprah + Jay Leno !
Very wise words from Shannon that Kirk should have therapy with his mom. He might be surprised to know what his bio mother experienced. Hurting people hurt people.
Have an open mind when you take those DNA test. Ancestry, or 23 and Me you might find some secrets you're not ready for.
This interview was very touching..So many people go through similar situations, however due to Kirk’s celebrity it’s his platform to use as he wishes to go through his journey of healing and forgiveness..He is my favorite gospel artist and to minister through music and still help so many by his music and now this is definitely Gods way of using his testimony to encourage or inspire others..I pray he stay in therapy and I know his biological mom is dealing with her issues too..Lord God I pray for both of them..
Kirk should ask Deborah ' what are you afraid off"
Very good interview. I appreciate how transparent and honest Kirk Franklin was in this interview. I struggled and was angry with God when my mother's health began to decline. I didn't understand the timing. There was so much more I desired to do with her. I thank God for his grace as I navigated those emotions. Prayer + Therapy works.
This might be the best interview of the year!❤
Protect your sanity brother....
This dude is very emotional
Praying that God gives you strength that you need to climb over all obstacles in your way 😢
They pain is real 💯
I can see why he would be mad at his mother
Wow plenty of us children gone through that same situations
Kirk don't want to be hurt again ! by his mom 💔 maybe someone do a interview with her ? Ask her the why ? She's still after becoming an adult not reaching out to her son ?? I feel so...sad for Kirk. Im happy God is helping him through
The best thing Kirk can do is forgive, and embrace the healing and gifts that will come with that.
The best thing is to hold his dirt bag maw accountable.
Wow that's powerful I wasnt looking for a father and he wasn't looking for a son.
I've always felt Kirk is probably the greatest gospel musician ever. Great interview.
Mr. Rick & Kirk both being connected to God explains Both Biological & Spiritual DNA.🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Shannon is stepping on Kirk’s bare feet with metal spiked cleats about repairing the relationship with his mother. I can 100% promise you Kirk was not trying to hear that during this interview. With that said Shannon is correct.
There’s been no shortage of hype & reactions in aftermath of these sit downs wit Shay, but I gotta say, he accomplished probably as much as Kirk’s therapists did in like 5 sessions wit this one sit down.
Man, these Kirk clips are fantastic
Awesome interview, Shannon!!!
God bless you, my brother! I know all about the wars with God. However, He has given you a wonderful gift that glorifies Him. You have every reason to be proud of everything you have come through! An absent father is much better than an abusive one. Keep on keeping on, young man! God got you always! ❤️🙏💞👑🎶🥰
Start where you’re at, keep it moving.
As long as you give power to things and events outside of yourself, you will also give those things power to determine how you feel. Living in the present is one of the most powerful things you could do because tomorrow is already gone and the future never comes. Peace, love, and forgiveness is the ultimate healing medicine.
Jesus!!! The transparency!!!!
Damm Shannon ,you are Kicking it out of the Park, God Bless you man ,you're potential is powerful, even do your not a Cowboy's fan ,🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏keep it real My man,
I find it hard to believe that the lityle town wasnt yalking about the resemblance. Similar stiries happen in my grandparents town and folks whispered about it.
The depth of this is so deep. I will add this in my opinion GOD is so loving and giving that the freedom of choice comes into play here Kirk describes his view and understanding but those individuals (his mother and father) not being in a committed relationship allowed for this. Understanding the power and responsibility of having seed and where you plant it matters. GOD bless Kirk
I met my dad at 3years ago at 37 honestly i get him my mom was a blessing bless her she did everything to try and make us connect but it took time and i guess Gods timming is always the best when i met him i decided to meet him when everyone say how was it your reaction its just what he say i was not looking for a dad sad this happens to a lot of people but time does heal you
Your parents were not able to be trusted to raise you at that time. They are both other people now. Your compilation as KF makes you the man of God that you are. Which makes the struggle in your gifting all the more valuable. Unpack this at your own pace and watch God be your strength. Keep going King! You still have life to live and songs to write/sing. 🙏🏽✝️🕊🎵🎶
True be told we all have this story and people told us to get over it. And then came you❤
She needs therapy herself to start out. When she thinks about Kirk, In her head she goes back to a 15 year old.
sounded like someone got shocked and dropped something when Kirk admitted to struggling with god. @13:00 lol... but Kirk is right that if you believe in the spiritual realm and you've never gone to battle with it, you probably ain't thought about it quite enough.
27 and I still haven’t met my father tbh I’d like to meet him just to see what type of man he his to his other kids if he has any, then part of me doesn’t want to meet him at all due to all those nights as a kid wishing I knew my dad and had my mom in my life. My aunt raised me from a baby till I was 18.
9:00 Oooooh yes! I ABSOLUTELY agree with that!
That is sad to hear all this story about Kirk's life. Calling his mother's Deborah tells you it all. Finding out that his father was this Mr Rick was the father he never knew.. i will pray for His healing. The Lord is the Lord that heals us. Jesus is the balm of Gilead, let Him heal you Kirk. Truly you will be in my prayers.❤love all the way from Italy
kirk gotta have that same faith he sing's about, and have that controlled sit down if it still effecting his life about the pain from why his mother handle their situtaion the way she did. wish him the best and hope he will be set free, from his pain
A life in faith isn’t a life without pain.
He has his father whole mouth❤
I love this show.
These comments are interesting. Not surprised but very interesting. Im praying he gets through this
There are so many ppl that don't know who their real parents are due to whatever reason. I'm glad Kirk was able find out who his biological father is.
I would love to see Kirk's movie Shannon. About his life.
That brother need to get that produced.
Repetition of a LIE does not make it the TRUTH, it just makes it a repeated LIE.🤷🏽♀️
I think Kirk is scared of another rejection from his mother. That's why he's hesitant to open the door to offer therapy with her. I understand completely.
That was the best advice for Kirk Franklin to consider counseling together with his mother with a view toward his mother coming to faith in God through Jesus Christ.
It’s crazy how people think mothers can do no wrong. Y’all don’t have half this forgiveness for absent fathers, he can feel how he wants about her.
12:33 the fact he gotta defend his mother because that’s how people will spin his pain is tiring.
Mommy issues IS A THING, that needs to be discussed.
Shannon is a pretty good host
Yes, after him and his mother make amends, I believe that will bring about the healing that needs to take place. With God and counseling, it can be done. Prayers to you bro. Kirk🙏🏽
Not every woman who gives birth is a mother in their heart. Some are vessels for other women to become mothers.
His mother will continue to lie to him. He still needs to speak to her unfortunately
His biological mom is a different kind of woman! There's no words for that type of woman. Therapy an't working. Fasting and prayer is key! He spending all that money for nothing 😢
Deborah needs healing and is in denial to face whatever she experienced around that time.
