Have you ever tried using the tool with different usb cable.
To use the Ethernet cable with vvdi, you should have a Ethernet to can bus gateway between the tool and the module. Working on the bench you do not have such.
As you noticed in the video, to communicate with an EGS module the tool should be directly connected to the module.
If you check the connection diagram in the software you will see exactly this :)
ist shows you connection play for gear.so this means need direct connection.

Did you ever sort out the MSD80/ 81 ISN read with bricktool?
Yes, the trick on the old firmware was disscontect the laptop from the internet. Bimtool was checking something on its server causing the lock up.
May I ask what harness are you using to connect that box ?

Working on it right now. Not sure if its patience or determination.........
Unless vvdi has all firmware version flash installed locally then you will need to connect to their server, not all versions are supported to reset.
Vvdi works great once you figure it out but never give you any information on what to do.
Couple things... 1. First 2. Why you still calling it Bimtool??? We all know it is called Bricktool
