    This is the final episode in a four-part video series about a Botswana self drive safari that my friend, JI de Wet, and I did in October 2021. In this episode we continue our time at the magical Magotho Campsite in the Khwai Community Concession in north-western Botswana.
    We have arguably the best lion sighting I've ever had in Khwai, or the whole of Botswana for that matter, when we follow a lioness for two hours to where she tries to cross the Khwai River to get to the rest of her pride. A couple of hippos, however, make it very difficult for her.
    We also spend our last four game drives searching for the Magotho female leopard and her cub that we saw on our first afternoon in Khwai, and then, on our final afternoon, we finally find them.
    I also give you more information about our six amazing sponsors, as well as a few basic tips that will help you to have a successful and enjoyable Botswana self drive safari.

    This series of Botswana just makes me want to wish away the first 5 months of next year!!!! How far in advance did you start making your camping reservations? Did you get the camps booked you had requested through Botswana Footprints?

    • @TheSafariExpert
      @TheSafariExpert  Před 2 lety

      Hi G Babe. I started planning the trip four months before our trip in October 2021 and yes, I made all the bookings through Botswana Footprints. I first sent them an e-mail with my ideal itinerary, and they then got back to me within a couple of days with a list of campsites that are available on the dates I wanted, and also which ones weren't. For those that weren't, they made suggestions close by. The whole process was very easy and personal and I can highly recommend their services.

      I have a lot of sympathy for your stance, but one must remember that NOT going diminishes the value (aka Tourist Dollar) of each and every ‘live’ Elephant, thus making them from a purely commercial perspective expendable.
      The Message that needs to be rammed home is that we (big spending. tourists) are even more interested in large free-roaming Herds with a proliferation of BIG Tuskers. One such Beast can be a serious cash draw for 30+ years instead of a one Shot Wonder.
      My hatred of all things Hunting is enormous. Bon voyage.

      Motswana here. Truly, and I speak with sober mind here. I would prefer you not come either. Batswana who benefit from tourism are not in Government Enclave in Gaborone. And as long as you malign us without atleast helping those on the ground who are fighting those policies, please stay in your country. And I hope your country is perfect, that your not fighting for wildlife while you don't care about human rights in your own country. Because clearly all Batswana who depend on tourism for their livelihood are no concern of yours or you wouldn't be trying to starve them to death.

      @@jennifertebomosiane9596 The people that want you to boycott Botswana should provide salary to whoever is involved in what they are against.There is no better way to really show support of something you believe in as to provide an alternative living for those who they condemn. Words are easy to say and do nothing to protect animals but it makes people feel elite and morally superior to condemn something that ideologically sounds good but realisticly hurts humans.
