Great video Patrick as usual, would love to see some more videos on where you could demonstrate what powerbi alone can not do but can achieve with the leverage of r script!
Seriously, I don't know why for Enterprise Deployments, there is not a clean way (even if it required premium capacity) to assign a Microsoft R Server in Azure to your Power BI Capacity so that you could refresh in service without a personal gateway, even if it were for a specific subsection of R Libraries.
This is great. Great things are so simple. Have you successfully connected to XMLA endpoint dataset using Python script. I’ve a premium account and was trying to connect, unsuccessful so far. Please help with tips. Thx!
The limits on R integration within power bi makes it essentially useless. You are better off designing a shiny app. Power BI is pretty weak in it's ability to leverage the top two transformation tools (python/r).
Agreed. I think it’s worth learning R and much more powerful than powerbi. I hate how you have to Pay to export images from powerbi to like a PowerPoint….that’s annoying.
Thanks for the video! Have you noticed that the aspect of the plot changes as soon as you apply the filter? It's like increasing the size of the graphic device (speaking the R language). I would like to avoid that.
Thanks for the update, but can one use the tidyverse package in PowerBi via the R scripting? I tried it but power bi didn't recognize it. Also, does Power Bi support any R version?
Is it possible to have r script on on-pemise gateway? - using dataflow to gather data but would be useful not to have to resort to personal gateway for a report using R
Tbh, the limitations Microsoft have imposed on using R is bullshit. You're better off using R with SQL server and then pushing that data to power BI. That way you have no limitations and can use R with SQL to the full potential.
Having watched your video, I have gained a lot of clarity about the topic. Thanks for the video, Patrick.

Thanks for sharing . Very handy.
Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching! 👊
Please tell Microsoft that we need to schedule refresh dashboards that contain R scripts 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This is exactly what I needed. Thanks.
Solid walkthrough
Great intro! Thanks!
I think I came up with the idea for the video first...LOL Thanks for the video!!!!
Thanks Mr. Guy in a Cube
Awesome 👍
Seriously Amazing!!!!!
This is amazing!!! Thanks
Pitfall is on "Don't Summarize". Thanks for mentioning
Great video!
If this video reaches 10 likes, Microsoft will enable refreshes throughout the enterprise gateway

It would be nice to know if that feature is being considered. If it is not it would be nice to know why.
Personal Gateway is really a show stopper. Same for python

Thanks, that was sample.
cool stuff, thanks for sharing :)

so throughout the web it recognize that data set, so all data set forcedly have a to have a unique name?

Can you use R pr Python in Power Bi to create a timeline queryon visualization?

Hi, I got a big problem as POwer BI doesn't appear dataset automatically when I choose "variable" ? How to solve it ? Thanks
How te create a button that activates a R process??
Bang!
I have a dynamic path stored in a column of a table. I am trying to pass this to a variable in R. It is saying the object not found! path
Can you deploy this visual to powerbi server on premises?
How does Power BI know where to take the data from?
Looks like the snake charmers have beaten the pirates for viewcount!
Always thumb up first and then watch..
I choose data analytics and reporting tools because I want to avoid the coding of phyton/R/Java.. now microsoft are combining both.. please shot me 🙂
lol no. Learn to program. Data Analytics without programming is like eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the bread.
@@manutexas I know how to coding... I just don´t like it.
Yoooooooo
Likable guy this one...no diddy
R and Python scripts should run directly from data flows, not from Power BI Desktop/Pesonal Data Gateway.
Still you need a gateway when using dataflows
It can run from any place you like.
Jeeze, slow the eff down….lol
I will probably never use this.
