    This has always been one of my fav survivorman episodes due to the second night. I experienced heat exhaustion once before, it is extremely scary situation. Just waves of heat pouring off your body but you don't feel any cooler. You almost feel hotter. The worst part of heat stroke to me is the growing delirium and utter confusion. It becomes impossible to think, and if feels like dying in the sense that you can literally feel the life leave you, ultimately becoming a crushing feeling of helplessness. This was at home during a heatwave, and it was my cats that saved my life by licking/wetting my forehead and such. Gave me the strength to semi-fall down the stairs to the cellar, where I could recover in 14C down from 39C upstairs. I had memory issues for a month after.

    It's absolutely incredible the amount of ingenuity Les has, that is 100% required to be able to survive in these environments... I always used to think when I was a kid, "7 days?? That's so easy! That's not long at all!" But as I've gotten older, I've realized just how miserable these 7 days must actually be. Not having food for a day or two when I'm in a COMFORTABLE environment would be hard enough, but not what Les goes through.

    • @ForumArcade

      I went without food for I think around 8 days or so one time, just to see how long I could go on just water before it became an issue.
      It ended one evening when I realized I was absentmindedly snacking on some peanut butter. Guess that was the end of that.
      Of course, I didn't have to do all the energy intensive work of surviving in a hostile environment. But the hunger wasn't even so bad. It peaked on like day 2, and then I think actually got easier.

    • @ValCronin
      @ValCronin Před 2 lety

      But it could save someones life if they need to start a fire 😉 Im being facetious. But really, is there anything that nature produces that you consider 'garbage', or is it only human products? Now ask yourself why you have such a low opinion of human creations as opposed to the rest of nature. Animals LOVE our 'garbage' generally...they make homes out of it and use it for warmth and gifts. That doesnt mean they dont try to eat it too...there would be more food if we didnt infringe upon their habitats and also kill life with pesticides and hunting. But my main point was that 'garbage' is subjective and generally doesnt exist in nature. Kinda the same thing with 'pollution' as well except much of that is deadly to all life so...less of an argument for defending that lol.

      @BasePuma4007 Před 25 dny

      @@WhoTFVotedBiden Yes it is. The temperature in the shade at 6 or 12 feet up is a proper measurement of the ambient air temperature. His thermometer said it was 140F in the sun, probably within a few feet of the ground, which would be warmer than the ambient air temperature in the area. That also isn't an accurate reading of what the air temperature is around the thermometer, because the sun would heat up the material the thermometer is made of, which would give an innacurate measurement. That's why he specified "...taken in the sun." It's still useful to mention because it gives you some information about how much hotter it is in the sun.
      Official weather measurements for things like the Guinness Book of World Records must be taken in the shade and at 6 or 12 feet above the ground. The hottest temperature ever recorded on the Earth under such controls was in Death Valley in 1913, when the temperature hit 56.7C (134.1F). Higher ambient temperatures have probably been sustained in the uninhabited areas of the Sahara Desert, but the Death Valley measurement is the highest ever recorded.

      It's not even about being better or more real. My main problem with Man vs Wild, is the fact that if you follow stuff he does on that show, it will get you injured, sick or killed. You don't go running around like crazy, climbing up and down cliffs, swinging from wines, jumping into unknown water and the lists just goes on and on. Nor do you go around eating or drinking things you have no clue about.. Being in a survival situation is bad enough, being in a survival situation with like a broken arm or a leg or sick, that can be a death sentences.

      @UserFormelyKnownAs_hjkh Před 3 lety

      @asadauy Ompah what reason would i have to lie about something like that? 🤣 theres no benefit for anyone to create that type of idea. Im not gonna do your leg work, if youre really that concerned or bothered by it then go find it yourself. Notice how youre obviously all kinds of butt hurt now that youve been called out. Because really, truly and honestly i dont really care what youre opinion is...to me youre nothing more than words on a page. If it really means that much then again, sure, you win. Ill concede. As well, ask yourself....even if i were wrong, is it truly worth the effort on your part to throw a temper tantrum like a small child? I highly doubt it, but obviously you seem to think its worth proving me wrong. So yeah, if you cant find anything then think im wrong to yourself because its apparent that no one other than you seems to care. You need to take a long hard look in the mirror and change that crappy attitude of yours.

    This is some good advice to anyone that works outside in the heat during the summer months. Get big water bottles fill them up with tap water or whatever water You choose put them in the freezer overnight The next day in the morning they should be frozen Take a thick clothing or cloth Keep the water bottles Bundled up together in cloth And every 20 minutes You want to pour that cold frozen water On the back of your neck. Yes you will get wet. But it keeps you cool that is your main arteries going to your brain And your brain needs too be cool That is the most important organ to keep cool during the heat. Beautiful feeling Having that cold water Running down your neck to your body on them hot days.

    I never believed it when people would say the desert can be super hot and at night it could be freezing. I've driven thru desert in NM and AZ and it was hot. Then I went to Iraq and it would be 115 during the day and you go to bed and it's 90 and in a few hours it's below freezing and we wake up with frost on our sleeping bags. It was such an extravagant temp swing. Desert at night is amazing star gazing so long as you are not near a big city. Hardly no land obstructions
    Also, I've had probably 50 ostrich egg omelets and maybe it's just me but the omelet was a bit more fluffy and also had just a little better taste than a normal chicken egg. They should have shown just how hard the shell is. To break ours the cooks used a hand saw as the shell is probably an 1/8 of an inch thick or maybe a little thicker. You can't just crack them on the pan. Unless your the hulk.
