A little slow to the party. I just discovered Cory Henry tonight after listening to George Duke hitting the rhodes......what a freak! Damn. I haven't been able to wipe the smile off my face, these guys are so locked in the energy is infectious. That lead in to 5:07-5:50 got launched into space. Sweet baby jesus.
I'm an old guy who grew up on Motown and other music of that era. I'm often gritching that modern music lacks melody, harmony, rhythm, storytelling, songcraft, intelligence, and individual skill, to name a few. Cory and the Funk Apostles have got it all. I'll shut up now.

Saw him in late October and got to talk to him a little after the show. Snarky Puppy got brought up and he was adamant that Snarky Puppy is in the past. He seemed to be looking forward and pouring himself into The Funk Apostles.
